Lenovo Tab P12 Pro Review: The perfect tablet for entertainment and productivity

Lenovo Tab P12 Pro features a 12.7" 2K display, Snapdragon 870, stylus support, and a 10,200mAh battery. Great for work and entertainment!

Lenovo offers some of the best Android tablets and Lenovo Tab P12 Pro is a solid option, though it falls between premium and mid-range models. While testing, we often wished for the Yoga Tab 13 instead, as it’s more entertainment-focused and even cheaper.

Standout feature of the P12 Pro is its 12-inch AMOLED 2K display, making it excellent for streaming and gaming. Powered by the Snapdragon 870, it delivers strong performance without overheating or excessive battery drain, making it a capable device for gaming and work.

However, the software experience holds it back. Running stock Android, it lacks tablet-specific optimizations, and stylus support feels basic compared to competitors. P12 Pro competes with Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S8 series but lacks unique features that set it apart.

It’s also quite expensive and even Lenovo’s Yoga Tab 13 offers more value with features like a built-in kickstand and micro HDMI port. Tab P12 Pro is a good pick if you want a portable tablet with a stylus, but there are better alternatives available.

Lenovo Tab P12 Pro Review Price and Availability

The Lenovo Tab P12 Pro costs $700 / £750 / AU$1,250 for its 6GB RAM and 128GB storage model. It launched in late 2021 and is still widely available.

It’s more expensive than the Yoga Tab 13 ($629 / £699 / ~AU$1,000) and sits between the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 and S8 Plus in price.

If it were cheaper, it’d be a great deal, but at its current price, it’s a bit expensive—especially when the iPad Air 5 starts at $599 / £569 / AU$929.

Lenovo Tab P12 Pro Review Design

Lenovo Tab P12 Pro has a wide display and a sleek, lightweight build. It measures 285.6 x 184.5 x 5.6mm and weighs 565g. There’s a fingerprint scanner, volume rocker and USB-C port, but no 3.5mm headphone jack.

Its thin design makes it feel delicate, so a case is recommended. The bezels are slim, with a front camera at the top in landscape mode. On the back, there’s a large camera bump and a magnetic strip for holding and charging the stylus.

Although stylus is easy to attach, it can be problematic because it keeps the tablet from lying flat. Despite this, it’s a wonderful choice for students or anyone who needs a portable tablet because of its lightweight design.

Lenovo Tab P12 Pro Review Display

Lenovo Tab P12 Pro features a 12-inch 2K display (1600 x 2560) with a 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+, and Dolby Vision support. Colors are vibrant and contrast is excellent making it great for streaming and gaming.

While its 600-nit brightness isn’t the highest, it’s enough for indoor use. It’s a solid screen that competes well with Samsung tablets.

Lenovo Tab P12 Pro Review Performance, Specs and Camera

The Lenovo Tab P12 Pro uses the Snapdragon 870 chipset, providing smooth performance for navigation, streaming, and gaming. It scored 2,918 on Geekbench 5, the highest result for this chip. While it doesn’t have the most RAM (6GB), it still handles gaming well, even for fast-paced titles like Call of Duty: Mobile.

The stylus works well but lacks the extra features found on Samsung tablets and has limited pressure sensitivity.

Tablet has four cameras: two 13MP (wide) and 5MP (ultra-wide) on the back, good for tasks like scanning documents. On the front, it has two 8MP cameras including a Time-of-Flight 3D sensor. However, camera app can have bugs like exposure flickering which may impact the experience.

Lenovo Tab P12 Pro Review Software

Biggest downside of Lenovo Tab P12 Pro is its stock Android 11 software which isn’t well-optimized for tablets. Unlike Xiaomi and Amazon, Lenovo doesn’t use a custom interface, leading to issues like a smartphone-like home screen layout and limited space for quick settings and notifications.

However, tablet does include useful apps. Lenovo Project Unity allows seamless device pairing, and the Entertainment Space organizes content from YouTube, Netflix, Prime Video and more. While not the best for productivity, it’s still a decent option for entertainment. Android 12L may improve the experience in the future.

Lenovo Tab P12 Pro Review Battery Life

Lenovo Tab P12 Pro has a large 10,200mAh battery that lasts for hours of video, gaming or reading. It’s labeled as an “all-day battery,” and it outlasts many iPads in terms of battery life.

Charging is fast too with 45W power support, although included charger is only 30W. If you have a faster charger, you can make the most of its quick charging capabilities.

Pros and Cons of Lenovo Tab P12 Pro

ProsCons
✅ Long battery life❌ Expensive
✅ Includes stylus❌ Android not optimized for tablets
✅ High-quality display❌ No headphone jack

Conclusion

Lenovo Tab P12 Pro is decent but not outstanding in the competitive Android tablet market. It has a strong performance, high-res screen, and a useful stylus, but lacks some key features in both software and hardware.
