Right now, the Stormbox Lava is only available in black, but a grey version is expected to launch in May 2025. For its price, this speaker offers great value, especially when compared to similar models like the JBL Xtreme 4, which costs over $300 / £300.

Even though the bass is powerful, the deepest sounds feel weak, especially when you turn up the volume. In bass-heavy songs like The Boys Are Back In Town by Yung Gravy, the speaker struggles to give that deep rumble. You can improve it a bit using the EQ in the Tribit app, but it’s still not as good as more expensive speakers like the JBL Xtreme 4.

It is rather easy to hear midrange tones. Pianos and guitars sound good in songs like Sadao Watanabe’s SAMBA DO MARCOS. Some fine features are absent, though. The speaker’s sound is also a little compressed because it doesn’t support high-quality Bluetooth audio.

Tribit Stormbox Lava looks very simple. I thought it would have some cool red colors or lights because of the name, but it’s just plain black with no fun details. Tribit kept the design basic.

Still, the speaker is strong and practical. It’s dustproof and waterproof with an IP67 rating, so you can even drop it in water for up to 30 minutes. It’s perfect for the beach or pool.
