Design, Build Quality, and Handling of Nothing CMF Phone 2 Pro
Nothing CMF Phone 2 Pro Accessories has a unique design that stands out. Some people like it, while others may think it looks a bit too much. It has visible screws and a tool-free attachment point on the back. These parts can collect dust and lint over time. Also, the plastic back gets fingerprints easily.
Most of the phone is made of plastic, including the back and frame. But it still feels strong and lightweight. It doesn’t bend or feel cheap. The front is protected with Panda Glass, which helps protect it from scratches.
This phone is also IP54 rated, which means it’s resistant to dust and light splashes. The company says it can handle a short dip in water—up to 20 minutes in 25 cm of fresh water.
You can buy the CMF Phone 2 Pro in four colors:
- White
- Black
- Orange
- Light Green (which looks more blue in some lighting)
Buttons and Ports
The top of the phone has only a secondary microphone. On the bottom, you get:
- USB Type-C port
- Main speaker
- Main microphone
- SIM slot (2 nano-SIMs or 1 SIM + 1 microSD)
The volume buttons are on the left, and the power button and Essential key are on the right.
Essential Key
The Essential key is a special button:
- Press once: takes a screenshot and sends it to the Essential Space
- Double press: opens the Essential Space
- Long press: records a voice memo
You can’t change what it does for now.
Front and Fingerprint Sensor
The front of the phone looks clean. The selfie camera hole is a bit big, and the bezels are slightly thick, but it still looks nice. There are no visible sensors, as they’re hidden under the screen.
It has a fast and accurate fingerprint scanner under the display. It works well with no problems.
Accessories
Nothing is planning to sell custom accessories for the CMF Phone 2 Pro. These include:
- Lanyard – connects to the back easily
- Universal Cover – attaches with the screws on the back
- Wallet and Stand – attaches to the Universal Cover with magnets and holds one card
- Clip-on lenses – like fisheye and macro lenses (coming soon)
Right now, these extras are not for sale yet. The Universal Cover is only shown in one color for now.
Display Performance
The CMF Phone 2 Pro features a large 6.77-inch AMOLED display. It supports 10-bit colors, HDR10+, and a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. The screen is bright enough for outdoor use, with a peak brightness of up to 1255 nits in auto mode. For its price, the display performance is impressive and quite competitive.
You can choose between two color modes: Alive (for vivid DCI-P3 colors) and Standard (for sRGB tones). The phone also supports Widevine L1 DRM and HDR10+ content, although Dolby Vision is not available.
When it comes to refresh rate, it switches between 30Hz, 60Hz, 90Hz, and 120Hz. There are three refresh rate settings – one locks it at 60Hz, while the others adjust automatically. However, the phone mostly stays between 60Hz and 90Hz. Sadly, many high refresh rate games were limited to 60Hz in our tests.
Battery Life
The CMF Phone 2 Pro has a solid 5,000mAh battery. It delivers over 14 hours of active usage time. You can expect strong endurance during calls and video streaming. Compared to other phones in the same range, the battery backup is reliable.
It also offers useful battery-saving features like Sleep Standby Optimization and scheduled charging. You can even set it to stop charging at 90% to help maintain battery health.
Charging Speed
The phone supports 33W fast charging, but there’s no charger in the box. We tested it using a high-quality 65W PD charger. It charged to 24% in 15 minutes, 46% in 30 minutes, and took about 1 hour 25 minutes for a full charge.
While it’s not the fastest in its segment, it’s still decent for daily use. If speed matters to you, other phones offer quicker charging in this price range.
Speaker Quality
The CMF Phone 2 Pro has a single bottom-firing speaker. It’s not stereo, but it gets the job done. The speaker delivered good loudness and clear mids, especially for voices. High tones are decent too, but bass is very minimal.
For the best experience, using headphones or Bluetooth speakers is recommended, especially for music and gaming.
Connectivity and Ports
This phone supports dual Nano-SIM cards and 5G (SA/NSA). The second SIM slot is hybrid, so you can choose between a second SIM or a microSD card. eSIM is not supported.
It offers dual-band Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3 with LE, GPS, GLONASS, BDS, QZSS, and NFC (in some regions). There’s no headphone jack or FM radio. The USB Type-C port supports USB 2.0 speeds (up to 480 Mbps) and OTG, but not video output.
Sensor-wise, you get an accelerometer, gyroscope, magnetometer, compass, light sensor, and proximity sensor. There’s no barometer, but the basic sensor suite is complete for everyday tasks.
Software and Performance of CMF Phone 2 Pro
The CMF Phone 2 Pro runs on Nothing OS 3.2, which is based on Android 15. It looks clean, works smoothly, and feels close to stock Android. You also get Nothing’s unique style with dot-matrix fonts and a simple, modern design.
There are 24 custom widgets like clock, calendar, and weather that all match the phone’s look. The notification panel and quick settings are easy to use and include rounded-square toggles, keeping the design consistent.
The Always-On Display is now available. It shows the time and notifications, but it’s basic with no extra customizations.
There’s also a Monochrome Mode, which gives the screen a black-and-white look. This is just a visual effect—it doesn’t change how photos or screenshots appear.
The phone doesn’t come with extra, unwanted apps. Only important apps like Camera, Weather, and Recorder are pre-installed. The Nothing X app is also included to easily connect with Nothing’s earbuds and audio devices.
Inside, the CMF Phone 2 Pro uses the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Pro, a powerful 4nm chip. It has 8GB RAM and storage options of 128GB or 256GB, plus a microSD card slot for more space.
The phone handles daily tasks smoothly and can even manage some gaming. In benchmark tests, it performs well in its price range, though it’s not the most powerful phone out there. Still, it holds up well compared to phones like the Redmi Note 14 Pro+ or Poco X7 Pro.
Even when running heavy apps or games, the CMF Phone 2 Pro stays cool. It doesn’t overheat or slow down, which is great for long use.
Camera of CMF Phone 2 Pro
CMF Phone 2 Pro has a strong triple camera setup. Its 50 MP main camera has a large 1/1.57″ sensor that captures 64% more light than the previous model’s camera. It can record 4K video at 30fps (with 60fps at 1080p) and offers AI-powered image stabilization.
Compared to the Phone 1, the Pro version adds two more cameras. The standout is the 50 MP telephoto camera, which is rare in this price range. It features a 1/2.88″ sensor and 2x optical zoom with 20x digital zoom. There’s also an 8 MP ultra-wide camera with a 119.5-degree field of view. The selfie camera remains a 16 MP module.
The main camera offers a solid performance with vibrant colors and decent dynamic range, but it lacks fine detail and may show some artifacts. Portraits look good, with nice skin tones and background blur, though it sometimes struggles with subject detection. The 50 MP mode doesn’t add much improvement in detail, but it captures less processed images.
The telephoto camera stands out, providing better fine detail and color than the main camera, though it still has some heavy processing.
CMF Phone 2 Pro delivers solid camera performance, especially with the added telephoto camera and AI-driven features like Night Mode and Ultra XDR.

Conclusion
CMF Phone 2 Pro has a unique design, good features, and solid performance for its price. It has a bright 10-bit 120Hz display and a decent Dimensity 7300 Pro chipset. It also offers expandable storage, long battery life, and a triple rear camera with a telephoto lens, which is rare for this price.
However, the camera could be better, the single speaker isn’t great, it has no water resistance, and the charging is slow.
We enjoyed using the CMF Phone 2 Pro. It’s different from most budget phones and offers a good experience. If you’re okay with the small flaws, it’s worth considering.
