Samsung DU7200 LED TV is a budget-friendly TV made for people who don’t care about fancy features or top performance. But before buying, it’s good to know its limits.

This TV doesn’t work well in bright rooms and isn’t great for watching HDR content. It looks better in darker rooms, but since it lacks local dimming, the picture quality in dark scenes is just okay.

If you’re mainly looking for the cheapest option in a 50- or 55-inch size, know that the DU7200 is only about $20 to $50 cheaper than the Samsung DU8000. The DU8000 is still basic but a bit brighter, which might be worth the extra cost.

In the end, this TV is all about saving money. If that’s your priority, especially for a big screen like 75 or 85 inches, the DU7200 can be a good choice.

Samsung DU7200 is one of the most affordable Samsung TVs you can buy right now. It’s been out for almost a year and comes in a wide range of sizes, from 43 to 85 inches. You’ll even find 50-, 60-, and 70-inch models, which are not always easy to find in other TVs.

Samsung DU7200 has a simple design that blends well in most rooms. It’s not flashy, but the build quality feels decent.

TV stands on slim L-shaped feet that keep it steady. What I like most is how easy it is to set them up—no screws or tools needed, just snap them into place.

However, the TV is a bit bulky. The panel is over 2 inches thick, making it chunkier than models like the DU8000 or Q60D. If you want a slim TV, those models might be better, though they cost more.

The remote looks similar to the ones that come with the DU8000 and Q60D. But unlike them, this remote doesn’t have Samsung’s Solar Cell feature, which means it uses regular disposable batteries instead of charging with light.

Thicker design and basic remote show why the DU7200 is cheaper than Samsung’s higher-end models.

The DU7200 doesn’t offer as many ports as higher-end Samsung models. It has only three HDMI inputs, while most TVs come with four. All of these are HDMI 2.0, not the newer HDMI 2.1.

For most people, the lack of HDMI 2.1 isn’t a big deal since this TV is a 60Hz model with minimal HDR support. But if you have more than three devices, like two consoles and a soundbar, you might run out of ports.

The TV also has a USB-A port, an ethernet port, and a coaxial connector. One downside is that it only supports ATSC 1.0, not the newer ATSC 3.0 standard for 4K over-the-air broadcasts.

The good news is that the DU7200’s low price makes it easier to afford a good soundbar. The bad news is that you’ll really need one to get the best audio experience.

The sound from the DU7200 itself is pretty poor. While it’s loud enough to fill a small room, it lacks the deep bass needed for movies or games to feel immersive and cinematic.

The DU7200 isn’t a great choice for gaming, especially if you have an Xbox Series X or PS5.

It only supports 4K gaming at 60Hz, so you won’t get smoother 120Hz gameplay. It does have basic Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), which is a nice bonus for the price.

However, the picture is dim and lacks good contrast, so gaming on this TV feels pretty average.

DU7200 runs on Samsung’s Tizen OS, giving you easy access to popular streaming apps like Netflix, YouTube, and Disney+. It’s nice that you can get a smart TV experience for a low price.

If possible, using a separate streaming device (like Roku or Fire Stick) could give you a smoother experience — but it will take up one of the three HDMI ports.

Still, for first-time smart TV users, the built-in features should be good enough. Just don’t expect everything to run super fast.

However, if you’re willing to spend a bit more for better picture quality, the TCL QM7 or Hisense U7N are good options. They offer much better performance and a brighter screen for about $150 to $200 more (for 55- to 65-inch sizes).

That said, if you’re interested in a 75- or 85-inch TV at a low price, the DU7200 is a good deal. The 85-inch model costs around $800, which is about $500 cheaper than the 85-inch DU8000.

Just remember—while the DU7200 is a budget-friendly option, it’s not the best when it comes to picture quality.

Samsung DU7200 is all about being affordable. The picture is too dim for bright rooms, but if you just want a cheap 4K smart TV, it does the job.
