DJI Mavic 4 Pro Review: Price & Availability

Launched on May 13, 2025, the DJI Mavic 4 Pro is the latest addition to DJI’s premium Mavic series, replacing the two-year-old Mavic 3 Pro. The drone is priced at £1,879 for the standard model with the DJI RC-2 controller.

For those who want more accessories, the Fly More Combo includes the RC-2 and extra batteries for £2,459. The Creator Combo, which comes with the new DJI RC Pro 2 controller and 512GB of internal storage, is priced at £3,209. The standard Mavic 4 Pro offers 64GB of internal storage with the option to expand via a microSD card.

Availability: The Mavic 4 Pro is currently available in the U.K. only. U.S. pricing has not been confirmed yet, but I will update this review once more details are available.

Compared to other models, the Mavic 4 Pro is slightly more expensive than the Mavic 3 Classic ($1,469), but it is priced similarly to the Mavic 3 and Mavic 3 Pro ($2,199). If you’re upgrading from the DJI Air 3S ($1,099) or need a drone for professional aerial photography and videography, the Mavic 4 Pro is worth the extra investment with its 100MP 4/3-inch CMOS sensor, 6K video, and longer flight times.

DJI Mavic 4 Pro Review: Design and Build

DJI Mavic 4 Pro looks premium with its dark grey finish, similar to the DJI Air 3S. It weighs 1063g (2.34 pounds), so you’ll need to register it before flying. In the U.S., register with the FAA, and in the U.K., get a Flyer ID and Operator ID from the CAA.

Because it’s over 249g, you can’t fly it over people, and you must keep at least 50 meters away from them, based on EU C2 rules.

When open, the drone measures 15.37 x 12.94 x 5.32 inches. When folded, it becomes compact at 10.14 x 4.91 x 4.07 inches, so it’s easy to carry.

The shoulder bag with the drone, batteries, and controller feels a bit heavy, but the soft padding makes it comfortable to wear.

DJI includes a gimbal cover that holds the camera and keeps the propellers in place, so they don’t get damaged in your backpack.

To turn on the drone, just unfold all four arms—no need to press the battery button. The rear arms don’t have landing legs, which reduces weight and helps it land on uneven surfaces like rocks.

Mavic 4 Pro is strong, stylish, and well-built—ready for tough outdoor use.

DJI Mavic 4 Pro Review: Controller

DJI Mavic 4 Pro Creator Combo comes with 512GB internal storage and the new DJI RC Pro 2 controller. This is the best and most responsive controller I have used so far.

RC Pro 2 has a 7-inch mini LED touchscreen with 2000 nits brightness. This makes it easy to see the screen even in bright sunlight. It also shows D-Log colors, so you can see how the RAW footage looks while recording.

One great feature is the foldable screen. You flip it up to reveal the joysticks and buttons. This design is helpful for travel because you don’t need to remove the joysticks every time — but you still can if you want.

Since Mavic 4 Pro supports vertical shooting, you can rotate the controller screen 90 degrees. This automatically switches the drone to vertical mode, making it easier for social media content.

The joysticks are comfortable and very responsive, making flying smooth and easy, even for long sessions.

Other features of RC Pro 2 include:

  • HDMI port
  • 128GB internal storage
  • MicroSD card slot
  • 4-hour battery life
  • Built-in microphone
  • Works with DJI Mic Mini and DJI Mic 2
  • Supports third-party apps so you can use it like a mini tablet

DJI RC Pro 2 is a powerful and easy-to-use controller that improves the flying experience.

DJI Mavic 4 Pro Review: Features

DJI Mavic 4 Pro is packed with impressive features, making it worth the price. It has a flight range of 25.4 miles (41 km), which is nearly 10 miles longer than DJI Mavic 3 Pro.

Camera System
Mavic 4 Pro has three cameras:

  • The 100MP Hasselblad camera captures detailed images with an adjustable aperture (f/2 to f/11) and 1x to 2.5x zoom. It works well in all lighting.
  • The Medium Tele camera captures 48MP photos with 2.5x to 6x zoom.
  • The Tele camera shoots 50MP images with 6x to 24x zoom. Both work well in low light.

With these three cameras, you can shoot wide landscapes or zoom in for close-ups. 100MP Hasselblad camera allows you to crop photos without losing detail. It can also record 6K/60fps video and 4K/120fps slow-motion video.

Gimbal
DJI Mavic 4 Pro uses a three-axis gimbal for smooth footage. It also has 360° Infinity Gimbal tech which makes the camera movement even smoother. You can also shoot 70° upwards for unique angles.

Wind Resistance
DJI Mavic 4 Pro can handle winds up to 12 m/s (27 mph). I tested it on a windy beach, and it kept the footage stable, even when the controller warned of strong gusts.

Obstacle Avoidance
DJI Mavic 4 Pro has omnidirectional obstacle sensors. It can avoid obstacles on all sides, thanks to LiDAR sensors on the front and an infrared sensor on the bottom. It also remembers your location if you briefly go behind an object, so it stays on track.

The drone also has fisheye lenses, which let you see a live feed of its surroundings, helping you spot obstacles and avoid crashes.

DJI Mavic 4 Pro Review: Image Quality

The DJI Mavic 4 Pro delivers stunning image quality. If you’re after top-notch photos, this drone won’t disappoint. With three cameras—100MP (Hasselblad), 50MP (Tele), and 48MP (Medium Tele)—the Mavic 4 Pro captures detailed and vibrant images with excellent color accuracy. You can see the results in the gallery above.

The drone offers a 1x to 28x digital zoom, depending on the camera used. I tested different zoom levels, and here’s what I found:

  • At 1x zoom, the photo is clear and full of detail.
  • At 3x and 6x zoom, the images still look great and are highly usable.
  • At 28x zoom, you start to notice some detail loss, but that’s expected with such high zoom.

The Mavic 4 Pro also lets you capture panoramas, just like the Air 3S, but with more flexibility. You can choose how many photos it takes, and you can easily set the start and end points. The result is a seamless panorama, as seen in the bright sunny day shot above, with no distortion at the bottom of the frame.

Even in low light, the Mavic 4 Pro shines. I tested it during sunset and it captured the city lights and changing sky perfectly. The Hasselblad camera, with its f/2-f/11 aperture, ensures detailed and bright photos, even in dim conditions.

Vertical shooting is another highlight, ideal for content you want to share on social media. The Mavic 4 Pro makes it easy to capture high-quality vertical shots.

DJI Mavic 4 Pro Review: Video Quality

The DJI Mavic 4 Pro is great for both professionals and hobbyists. It’s the first DJI consumer drone to record 6K/60fps video using the Hasselblad camera, and it can also shoot 4K/60fps in both horizontal and vertical formats.

The Hasselblad camera captures 10-bit 4:2:2 video, which means it can display 1.07 billion colors. The footage looks smooth and clear, even on windy days.

The drone can also record slow-motion video in 4K. The Hasselblad and Medium Tele cameras shoot at 120fps, while the Tele camera records at 100fps. The slow-motion shots are smooth and beautiful, especially in outdoor scenes.

For social media videos, you can record 4K/60fps vertical video with the Hasselblad camera or 2.7K/60fps vertical with the Medium Tele and Tele cameras.

The Mavic 4 Pro performs well in low light. It uses fisheye lenses to help avoid obstacles at night, making it more stable while flying in dim light.

In Sport mode, the drone can reach speeds of 97.2 km/h (60.2 mph). Just keep in mind that collision avoidance is off in this mode, so it’s best to fly it in an open area.

The Mavic 4 Pro also offers fun QuickShot modes, where the drone can move around subjects to create dynamic shots. My favorite is Asteroid mode, which creates a cool sphere panorama.

If you want more control over video editing, the Hasselblad camera also lets you shoot in D-Log M and HLG profiles, offering up to 16 stops of dynamic range. The Medium Tele and Tele cameras offer 14 and 13 stops, respectively.

DJI Mavic 4 Pro Review: App

To fly the DJI Mavic 4 Pro, you’ll use the DJI Fly app on your iOS or Android phone or with the RC-2/RC Pro 2 controller. The app is simple to use with a clean interface, and it doesn’t have annoying pop-ups. It lets you check for nearby flying spots, airspace rules, update firmware, and easily transfer footage to your phone.

The 64GB model benefits from the app’s fast file transfer, with speeds up to 80Mbps over Wi-Fi, making it easy to move large 4K and 6K videos to your phone.

DJI Mavic 4 Pro Review: Battery Life

The DJI Mavic 4 Pro offers one of the longest flight times in its class. On a single charge, you can fly for 51 minutes, which is longer than other Mavic drones like the Mavic 3 Pro (43 minutes) and Mavic 3 (46 minutes).

During testing, I got 50 minutes of flight time, but this can vary depending on conditions. The controller lasts for 4 hours on a single charge.

If you get the Fly More or Creator Combo, you’ll get two extra batteries and a charging hub, which charges all three batteries at once. It takes about 90 minutes to fully charge the batteries using the included 240W charger. You can also charge the drone directly using its USB-C port.
