Galaxy Z Flip 6 is priced at $1,099.99 for the 256GB model, which is $100 more than last year’s model. If you need more storage, you can get 512GB version for $1,219.99.

Familiar Design with Notable Upgrades

Samsung has now released 6th generation of its folding phone, Galaxy Z Flip 6. This new version fixes two of biggest complaints from previous models: camera and battery life. It features upgraded 50MP primary camera that matches quality of Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S24 series. Additionally, it has more RAM, larger battery and latest Snapdragon processor which is designed with AI in mind.

However, Galaxy Z Flip 6 looks almost identical to Z Flip 5, which might disappoint some users. The only visible difference is the chrome rings around the camera sensors. If you look closely, you might notice that sides are now matte instead of glossy and they are slightly more flat and squared off. Despite these subtle changes, phone remains comfortable to hold and use, even with one hand. Overall design including cover display and small gap when shut, is largely same, but internal improvements make significant difference.

Samsung’s decision to stick with familiar design could be seen as complacency or it might be a case of “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” Galaxy Z Flip 6 retains same glass and metal body as before, and hinge feels solid and smooth. It doesn’t creak or make any noises and it easily snaps open, stays at specific angles and closes with ease. However, like previous models, it is still very slippery. The squared-off sides make it a bit easier to hold, but you’ll likely want a case or skin for a better grip.

Opening phone with one hand is not easiest task. While you can slide finger between screens and flick it open, it might not be best idea as it could scratch plastic screen over time. Once open, the fingerprint sensor inside the power button works well, but there are occasional issues with unlocking the phone while it is closed.

One downside is that speaker quality seems worse than last year’s model. It doesn’t sound as full and rich, and you can feel it vibrating the back glass and your fingers, which is not pleasant experience.

Improved Inner Screen

While the outer cover screen hasn’t seen major changes, the inside screen of the Galaxy Z Flip 6 is vastly improved. It now gets incredibly bright, up to 2,000 nits of peak brightness, making it easy to use outdoors. Viewing angles are great and everything looks crisp and clear. Center folding crease is less visible and more resistant to damage and phone is IP48 resistant to water and small dust particles.

Enhanced Cameras

One of biggest upgrades in Galaxy Z Flip 6 is camera. Previous model’s 12MP wide camera didn’t meet expectations, especially at this price point. New 50MP camera offers 2x optical zoom, 10x digital zoom and night photography with HDR video support. With AI improvements, it offers imaging experience that is comparable to that of Galaxy S24 series. Although inner screen still includes 12MP camera for better results you can use rear 50MP camera as viewfinder by using cover screen.

Advanced Software and AI Features

Galaxy Z Flip 6 runs on One UI 6.1.1, Samsung’s version of Android. It is user-friendly, full of features and frequently updated. Phone is guaranteed to receive seven years of software support. Samsung has added new AI features like “Drawing Assist” and “Photo Assist,” which use generative AI to create & enhance images.

Improved Battery Life
