Honor 200 pro Review
Honor 200 Pro offers a great balance of performance, vibrant display, fast charging, and versatile cameras, perfect for daily use.
If you’re looking for a smartphone with a great camera, lots of storage, decent gaming performance and a battery that lasts all day but you don’t want to spend a fortune, Honor 200 Pro might be the perfect choice for you. Priced at £699 (around $880 or AU$1,330), it’s not exactly cheap, but it’s packed with features that make it stand out among other popular phones like Nothing Phone (2), Google Pixel 8 and iPhone 14. It’s more than just a list of good specs, though—it brings some unique touches to the table.
One of the things that makes Honor 200 Pro special is its collaboration with Studio Harcourt, a famous French photography studio known for its classic black and white portraits. Phone’s portrait mode is designed to recreate this iconic style, adding artistic touch to your photos.
Honor 200 Pro also boasts one of the largest main camera sensors available at this price point and it includes ultra-wide camera with autofocus which is a feature typically found only in flagship models. To top it off, phone is powered by the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 processor making it a solid choice for gaming & overall performance.
There are a few small issues. Honor 200 Pro has a plastic frame, which some people might not like since other phones at this price have metal. The curved screen might not be for everyone, but we didn’t mind it. Cameras can be a bit hit or miss, but the phone still has enough to be one of the best camera phones in 2024 for the price.

Honor 200 Pro Design and Screen
Honor 200 Pro continues signature style of Honor series with a curved front, curved back and slim profile just like Honor 70 and 90. However, this time, West is also getting Pro model for 2024.
While you might expect the Pro model to have a fully premium build, it’s only partially true. Honor 200 Pro has a glass front and back but its plastic sides make it feel a bit less high-end than you’d expect at this price.
On the bright side, phone isn’t too heavy, even with its large battery and it’s fairly thin at 8.2mm. Curved back and rounded corners make it comfortable to hold.
There are three colors to choose from: Black, Moonlight White and Ocean Cyan. Cyan didn’t impress us much but the white has a nice pearlescent shimmer while the black is sleek with a frosted glass back.
Phone is IP65 rated for dust and water resistance and comes with a pre-fitted screen protector. However, whether it includes a case or charger depends on where you buy it—in the UK, it doesn’t seem to come with one.
Honor 200 Pro’s screen is 6.78-inch AMOLED panel with resolution of 1224 x 2700 offering crisp visuals at 437 pixels per inch. It’s bright and clear with a peak brightness of 4000 nits for HDR content, though typical brightness tops out at around 1200 nits in bright sunlight, making it easy to use outdoors.
Screen’s 120Hz refresh rate is smooth and there are several color and eye-care options in the settings, along with 3840Hz PWM dimming to reduce flicker and eye strain at low brightness.
Some might not like the curved screen edges but we didn’t experience accidental touches, and it gives the phone a sleek, immersive look with thin bezels. Overall, Honor 200 Pro’s screen is a high-quality display for its price.
Honor 200 Pro Camera Specs
Honor 200 Pro features impressive camera technology, thanks in part to its collaboration with Studio Harcourt, a Paris-based photography studio. This partnership brought AI Portrait Engine improvements like AI Shadow and Light, Optical Effects and Artistic Style Enhancement.
Here are key camera details:
- Main camera: Honor 200 Pro has a large 1/1.3-inch Omnivision sensor, similar to iPhone 15 Pro Max. It has f/1.9 aperture and Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) for clear shots.
- Telephoto camera: It uses a 50MP Sony IMX856 sensor with a 1/2.51-inch size, f/2.4 aperture, OIS and a 2.5x zoom for capturing detailed shots with a 68mm equivalent focal length.
- Ultra-wide camera: This 12MP camera offers a 112º field of view and autofocus as close as 4cm, making it great for wide-angle and macro shots.
- Selfie camera: The front camera is a high-resolution 50MP sensor with a fixed-focus f/2.1 aperture and a 21mm focal length, capable of 4K video at 30fps.
In addition to new Portrait Mode, Honor 200 Pro includes standard shooting modes like Photo, Night, and Video, as well as unique features like Solo Cut for creating vertical videos from a landscape recording.
Honor 200 Pro Camera Review
Honor 200 Pro’s camera system performs reliably across its cameras but lowlight photos and videos from the ultra-wide lens were its weakest points in our tests.
Phone’s auto-processing tends to be vivid and high-contrast, making photos look ready for social media. While not always the most natural, the results still look great.
- In good lighting, main camera delivers detailed photos with rich tones, and the telephoto lens, despite its 2.5x optical zoom limit, also performs well.
- The large sensor on the main camera helps create depth for close-up shots and works quickly. The phone’s fast photo processing and RAW image support are also impressive for a midrange device.
In lowlight and mixed lighting conditions, zoom performs well, but the ultra-wide lens struggles to match the quality of the main and telephoto cameras. While midrange phones often lack quality zoom, Honor 200 Pro does a decent job without a periscope lens which is more common in pricier phones like the OnePlus 12.
- The ultra-wide camera is useful for macro shots in bright settings but lacks in lowlight.
- Portrait mode especially in black-and-white, is where the telephoto camera stands out. The mode offers a balance between classic and modern looks with HDR options that enhance the tonal range.
However, Portrait Mode can occasionally misjudge depth, so you may need to adjust the settings to achieve a more natural effect. Color consistency across cameras can also vary slightly, though it’s less noticeable compared to higher-end models like Magic 6 Pro.
Video recording from the main camera is strong, even in different lighting conditions. Telephoto camera struggles in lowlight, and the ultra-wide lens falls short, but all cameras perform well in bright environments.
Honor 200 Pro Additional Features
Honor 200 Pro is powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 processor offering strong performance for 2023. It comes with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, giving you plenty of space for apps, files, and media.
Gaming on Honor 200 Pro is smooth, but demanding games like Genshin Impact can cause performance issues after about 20 minutes at maximum settings. Lowering the graphics settings helps stabilize the frame rate, making the phone a good option for casual gamers who also want a quality camera.
Phone runs on Magic OS 8.0 and Android 14, providing a stable and smooth experience. However, it comes with a lot of pre-installed apps (bloatware) like Honor’s App Market and third-party apps, which can be annoying but aren’t dealbreakers.
Magic Capsule feature, similar to Apple’s Dynamic Island, lets the pill-shaped selfie camera show useful information like music controls and navigation, offering a handy interface experience.
App support is strong, with full access to Google Play Store, and you can choose between a traditional app drawer or having all apps laid out on the home screen like an iPhone.
With a 5200mAh battery, Honor 200 Pro lasts a full day, even with heavy use. It supports fast charging: 100W wired (fully charging in about 45 minutes) and 66W wireless, though you’ll need to buy a charger separately.
