Poco X7 global Edition review

Poco X7 Global Edition offers a sleek design, powerful performance, and reliable cameras at an affordable price.

We begin the 2025 Xiaomi review season with Poco X7 global Edition, a solid mid-range device.

Recently, Poco has fully integrated into Xiaomi’s brand with even its website now part of Xiaomiโ€™s. This integration was expected to simplify Xiaomiโ€™s product lineup but Poco X7 still shares much in common with the Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G, especially in India where both devices are nearly identical in terms of specs and price.

Today, we are reviewing global Poco X7 model which has a 5110mAh battery, compared to the Indian version with a 5500mAh battery. The rest of the devices are mostly the same, so this review applies broadly.

Poco X7 boasts a bold design with a yellow and black vegan leather back. Key updates include an IP68 rating (IP69 in India), Gorilla Glass Victus 2, a newer chipset and an improved main camera.

It features a 6.67-inch CrystalRes AMOLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, Dolby Vision and HDR10 support.

Performance is upgraded with the Dimensity 7300 Ultra chipset offering better CPU and GPU performance, paired with 12GB of RAM.

As for the camera, the 50MP primary sensor is a step up but the X7 still focuses on mid-range camera capabilities with an 8MP ultrawide and 2MP macro lens. The selfie camera has been upgraded to 20MP.

The battery remains at 5,110mAh, but charging speed is now 45W, a reduction from previous models.

Poco X7 global Edition Desing, build quality and handling

Poco X7 features a bold design with a curved screen protected by Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and a vegan leather back. The frame is plastic, keeping it lightweight.

Itโ€™s IP68-rated for water and dust resistance, a big improvement over earlier models. It also has a shock-absorbing structure for better drop protection.

Black-and-yellow model stands out with its two-tone vegan leather and a large Poco logo. Other options include gray or green plastic backs with polished and matte finishes.

Camera setup is centered with a sleek design that avoids wobbling when placed on a surface.

6.67-inch AMOLED display offers a 120Hz refresh rate, Dolby Vision, and a punch-hole for the 20MP selfie camera. It also includes an under-display fingerprint scanner and stereo speakers for a better user experience.

Poco X7 is lightweight, has a great grip, and feels premium with its water resistance and solid build.

Poco X7 global Edition Display and Battery

The Poco X7 has a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 1220×2712 pixels, 120Hz refresh rate, and supports HDR10+ and Dolby Vision. The screen is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and offers excellent brightness, peaking at 3,000 nits. Notable improvements include stronger glass and higher brightness than the Poco X6.

The global model has a 5,110mAh battery, delivering solid performance. It scored 11 hours of active use, slightly better than the X6. Charging speed reaches 45W, with 62% in 30 minutes and a full charge in 65 minutes.

X7 features stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos. The sound quality is good, with clear highs, decent vocals, and some bass, though the top speaker is quieter.

Poco X7 provides a bright display, solid battery life, and good audio for its price range.

Poco X7 global Edition Software, performance and benchmarks

Poco X7 runs HyperOS 1.04 on Android 14, while the X7 Pro uses HyperOS 2 based on Android 15. If you’re familiar with Xiaomi’s MIUI, HyperOS feels similar but more refined, with better optimizations. Xiaomi promises 3 major OS updates and 4 years of security patches for the X7.

Poco devices come with small software tweaks, like an app drawer by default and double-tap to lock the screen. Most features of Xiaomi’s HyperOS are included here.

Poco X7 is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Ultra chip (4nm) with 12GB RAM and 512GB storage. It handles daily tasks and games smoothly but remains a mid-range device.

In benchmarks, the X7 shows good performance for its class, with improved GPU results compared to the Poco X6. It offers consistent performance without overheating, scoring 78% in CPU and 99% in GPU stress tests. While gaming, it performs well but with average results for demanding titles.

Poco X7 delivers smooth software, good performance, and decent gaming capabilities for a mid-range phone.

Poco X7 global Edition Camera, photo and video quality

Poco X7 has three rear cameras: a 50MP main camera with OIS, an 8MP ultrawide camera, and a 2MP macro camera. It also has a 20MP front camera for selfies.

Camera Features:

  • Main camera: 50MP with OIS, good for daytime photos with wide dynamic range but slightly over-processed colors.
  • Ultrawide camera: 8MP, decent but colors are a bit too saturated.
  • Macro camera: 2MP, produces underwhelming photos with poor detail.
  • Front camera: 20MP, decent selfies but slightly soft.

Photo Quality:

  • Daylight photos are good but over-processed, with saturated colors and average detail.
  • Night mode helps improve low-light photos, but the ultrawide camera still captures some noise.
  • 2x zoom often results in worse quality with noticeable noise and low detail.

Video Quality:

  • 4K videos from the main camera are clear, with accurate colors and good contrast.
  • Ultrawide camera videos are also good, though lower in detail.
  • Low-light 4K videos are decent with good balance and sharpness.
  • Electronic stabilization helps with video, though walking videos can be shaky.

Poco X7โ€™s cameras are versatile but have some weaknesses, particularly in the macro and 2x zoom shots. It performs well in most situations, but thereโ€™s room for improvement in some areas.

Pros and Cons of Poco X7 global Edition

ProsCons
๐ŸŒŠ Waterproof and drop-resistantโšก Slower charging than X6
๐Ÿ‘œ Eco leather design๐Ÿ”‹ Shorter battery life for web browsing
๐Ÿ“ฑ Great display (AMOLED, 120Hz)๐Ÿšซ No Android 15/HyperOS 2
โš™๏ธ Good performance๐ŸŽฅ Video stabilization is shaky while walking
๐Ÿ“ธ Reliable cameras๐Ÿšถโ€โ™‚๏ธ Virtual proximity sensor

Conclusion

Poco X7 isnโ€™t a big upgrade from the Poco X6. It has a new design, a faster chipset, and a better camera, but the biggest improvements are its water resistance and better shock protection.

If you’re not upgrading from a Poco X6 or Redmi Note 14 Pro, the Poco X7 is still impressive with its design, screen, and performance. The battery and charging are good, and it has many connectivity options.

However, the camera doesnโ€™t have the 2x zoom from the Poco X6, and it runs on an older version of software compared to the X7 Pro.

Poco X7 is a good phone for the price, but you might find better deals in older Xiaomi models. It could be a great option once the price drops.
