When I first got Oppo Find X7 Ultra in mid-January, I didn’t pay much attention to it because it wasn’t launching outside China. Instead, I focused on phones that were set for a global release. I got busy with the 2024 phone launches and Find X7 Ultra stayed unused in a drawer for nearly month.

I only used it briefly while testing Magic 6 Pro’s cameras but it wasn’t until I started testing Xiaomi 14 Ultra that I saw its true potential. When I compared photos from Xiaomi 14 Ultra and Find X7 Ultra, I was surprised. Find X7 Ultra produced better photos in many cases especially portrait shots which were best I’d seen from any phone.

Once I finished testing Xiaomi 14 Ultra, I switched to using Find X7 Ultra full-time. Despite some software frustrations with Chinese version of ColorOS, phone was fantastic during month and a half I used it.

OPPO Find X7 Ultra Release Date and Pricing

OPPO released Find X7 Ultra on January 8 but it’s only available in China like previous model. It comes in three colors: blue, black and brown with a dual-tone design and leather backs. Phone has three versions based on memory: 12GB RAM with 256GB storage, 16GB RAM with 256GB storage and 16GB RAM with 512GB storage.

While it’s possible to buy Find X7 Ultra through Chinese resellers, software (ColorOS) is quite different from global version, so it might not be best option to import.

OPPO Find X7 Ultra Stylish Design

OPPO Find X7 Ultra is one of the most attractive phones of 2024. While it didn’t change much from Find X6 Pro, small tweaks made it even more comfortable to hold and nicer to look at. A key feature is two-tone design. Version I used had a blue leather back with a frosted white glass panel around camera area.

This design grabs attention. People often asked about phone when I used it outside. Large camera island is even bigger than last year’s with silver accents making it stand out. It’s also stable on flat surfaces because of its size.

OPPO continues using curved designs, making phone easy to hold. It weighs 221g and feels great in hand especially with the leather back. Power and volume buttons are on the right and there’s an alert slider on the left. Slider now includes a “VIP mode” that turns off the mic, camera and location.

Although there’s no titanium version, aluminum frame feels premium and phone has IP68 water and dust resistance for added protection.

OPPO Find X7 Ultra Amazing Display

OPPO Find X7 Ultra features big 6.82-inch AMOLED screen with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. It gets super bright 1,600 nits for everyday use, 2,600 nits in High Brightness Mode and up to 4,500 nits for HDR content. This brightness is better than many other phones even Xiaomi 14 Ultra and Vivo X100 Pro.

Screen is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus 2, making it tough. It has LTPO technology, which adjusts refresh rate from 1Hz to 120Hz automatically. You can also manually set it to 60Hz or 120Hz. Phone comes with FHD resolution by default but you can change it to QHD+ (3168 x 1440) for clearer images.

Colors on the screen are bright and vivid, with excellent contrast. You can customize the colors to fit your style. Display is similar to OnePlus 12, offering great visuals.

You can personalize the always-on display, and it has features not usually found on other phones. Fingerprint sensor is easy to use with one hand, and the bezels around the screen are thinner than last year, giving you more screen space.

OPPO Find X7 Ultra: Hardware

OPPO Find X7 Ultra has powerful hardware similar to other high-end phones. It uses the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip and comes with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. I found it very smooth to use, with no significant problems.

OPPO Find X7 Ultra: Battery Life

Phone has 5000mAh battery and supports 100W charging, which charges it fully in just over 30 minutes. It also offers 50W wireless charging. I found the battery life very reliable, lasting more than a day on average. However, it doesn’t last as long as Honor Magic 6 Pro which has a bigger battery.

OPPO Find X7 Ultra: Cameras

Find X7 Ultra has four 50MP cameras on the back including a main camera, wide-angle lens and two telephoto lenses. It also has 32MP front camera for selfies.

Main Camera: Great for detailed & vibrant photos.
Telephoto Lenses: Excellent for zoomed-in shots, producing clear images at 3x and 6x zoom.
Low-light Performance: Performs well with accurate colors and good detail in dark conditions.

OPPO Find X7 Ultra: Software

Phone is running ColorOS 14, a version of Android 14 with special features tailored for the Chinese market. It was difficult to set up, especially with notifications and permissions. Although there are problems with accessing Google services, phones are updated frequently to make changes.

While the Find X7 Ultra will get regular updates, I wouldn’t recommend it for someone unfamiliar with ColorOS, as there are many differences compared to the global version.

Conclusion

OPPO Find X7 Ultra has a beautiful dual-tone finish, making it one of the best-looking phones I’ve seen in a while. Leather back and large camera area give it a unique look and feel great in your hand. Standout feature is its impressive camera setup which includes four 50MP sensors that capture excellent photos and videos. However, only downside is that it’s not available outside China.
