Oppo is expanding its Find X lineup and Oppo Find X8 serves as more affordable alternative to Pro model.

With a smaller 6.59-inch display, Find X8 is easier to handle. It packs 5,630mAh battery with advanced silicon carbon tech, ensuring long life and better performance in cold conditions.

Oppo Find X8 is a well-rounded smartphone that stands out despite being a “regular” model. It boasts 6.59-inch AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate, Dolby Vision and a sharp 1256x2760px resolution. Design is sleek with an aluminum frame and Gorilla Glass Victus 2 front/back, offering IP68/IP69 water and dust resistance.

Powering device is Mediatek Dimensity 9400 chipset, paired with up to 1TB of fast UFS 4.0 storage. It delivers smooth performance and fast connectivity with Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4 and advanced location services. Phone supports fast 80W wired and 50W wireless charging, ensuring quick power-ups.

Oppo Find X8 has a 6.59-inch AMOLED display, slightly smaller than the Pro model. It uses LTPS technology (not LTPO) and supports 10-bit color depth, called “ProXDR Display.” Display offers adaptive eye care and has PWM dimming for better eye comfort.

Brightness is good but not the brightest compared to rivals. It reaches up to 1,364 nits of peak brightness and performs well outdoors. Phone offers a 120Hz refresh rate with options to switch between 60Hz, 90Hz or 120Hz, with automatic mode that adjusts based on use. For gaming, you can manually set it to 120Hz.

It supports HDR10+ and Dolby Vision, making it ideal for HDR content. It also supports FullHD streaming on services like Netflix, thanks to its Widevine L1 certification.

Oppo Find X8 has strong triple camera setup called “Hasselblad Master Camera System.” It includes a 50MP main camera, 50MP ultrawide camera and a 50MP 3x zoom telephoto camera. Main camera uses a Sony LYT-700 sensor while ultrawide camera uses a Samsung ISOCELL JN5 sensor. The telephoto camera provides sharp photos and can shoot up to 6x zoom with decent detail. Front camera is 32MP Sony IMX615 sensor offering good selfies with natural colors but no autofocus.

In daylight, the main camera works well, capturing crisp, detailed images with vibrant colors. It captures good background blur and subject isolation in portrait mode. For zoom shots, it does well at 2x and 3x digital zoom, with decent sharpness. 3x telephoto camera excels at mid-to-long-range shots especially for portraits offering detailed images and natural skin tones.

Ultrawide camera delivers sharp photos with wide dynamic range and good color. While the 32MP selfie camera provides decent results, it lacks autofocus, which can be a limitation.

In low light, the main camera does a great job, capturing well-exposed images with good dynamic range. It has an automatic night mode that works reliably, and there is a manual night mode for longer exposures. However, 2x zoom in low light results in some loss of sharpness.

Conclusion

Oppo Find X8 is a great all-around smartphone. While it has a few differences from the Pro version like no second telephoto camera, no camera key and a smaller battery, it still performs impressively as a camera phone. Its compact size and lower price make these trade-offs reasonable. Even digital 6x zoom works well.

Display doesn’t have LTPO tech but it’s bright enough and doesn’t hurt battery life much. Powerful chipset delivers top-notch performance and added water resistance gives extra peace of mind.

While Pro version offers more, regular Find X8 is still an excellent choice.
