Pixel 9 Series: Price and Availability

The base Pixel 9 starts at $799, which is $100 more than the Pixel 8’s launch price. Meanwhile, the Pixel 9 Pro keeps the same $999 starting price as its predecessor.

Google’s latest foldable, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, is the biggest phone in the lineup and starts at $1,799, matching the original Pixel Fold’s launch price.

Launch Dates:

  • Pixel 9: August 22
  • Pixel 9 Pro Fold: September 4
  • Pixel 9 Pro: September

At launch, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold will have limited availability and will be sold in the US, Canada, and select countries across Europe, Australia, India, Japan, Singapore, and Taiwan.

Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro will be available in all these regions, plus additional markets, including Czechia, Estonia, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, and Malaysia.

Pixel 9 Series: Design

Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro introduce a new design with a pill-shaped camera bump, replacing the camera bar that debuted with the Pixel 6 in 2021.

Both phones come in Obsidian and Porcelain. Pixel 9 also offers Wintergreen and Peony, while the Pixel 9 Pro comes in Hazel or Rose Quartz.

All models feature scratch-resistant Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on the front and back, along with a fingerprint-resistant coating. Pixel 9 has a polished back with a satin-finish metal frame, while the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro Fold feature a silky matte back with a polished metal frame.

Pixel 9 Series: Display

The Pixel 9 series has similar displays, with slight differences in resolution and refresh rate as you move to the Pro models.

The Pixel 9 has a 6.3-inch OLED display with a 1080 x 2424 resolution and a 60-120Hz variable refresh rate. The Pixel 9 Pro keeps the same 6.3-inch size but upgrades to LTPO OLED, a 1280 x 2856 resolution, and a smoother 1-120Hz refresh rate.

The Pixel 9 Pro Fold features both an external and internal display. The external screen matches the Pixel 9’s display, while the internal 8-inch LTPO OLED panel has a 2076 x 2152 resolution and a 1-120Hz refresh rate.

Pixel 9 Series: Processor

All Pixel 9 models are powered by Google’s new Tensor G4 processor and Titan M2 security coprocessor, designed for better performance and AI tasks than the previous Tensor G3.

The Pixel 9 comes with 12GB of RAM, while the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro Fold offer 16GB for smoother multitasking and better performance.

Pixel 9 Series: Cameras

For the best camera experience, the Pixel 9 Pro is the top choice. It features a 42MP front camera and a triple rear setup with a 50MP wide lens, 48MP ultrawide lens, and 48MP telephoto lens.

The Pixel 9 shares the same 50MP wide and 48MP ultrawide lenses but lacks a telephoto lens and has a lower-quality 10.5MP front camera.

The Pixel 9 Pro Fold has the weakest camera setup, with a 10MP front camera and a triple rear setup: a 48MP wide, 10.5MP ultrawide, and 10.8MP telephoto lens.

Conclusion

Google has expanded the Pixel lineup, offering four Pixel 9 series phones. While the Pixel 9a is expected next year, you still have plenty of options.

For an affordable way to experience the Tensor G4 chip’s speed and AI power, the Pixel 9 is the best choice.

If you want the best camera setup, go for Pixel 9 Pro.

For a larger screen with great cameras, Pixel 9 Pro Fold is the premium option.

And if you’re interested in foldable phones, Pixel 9 Pro Fold is the way to go, though it comes at a high price of $1,799.
