Poco F7 Ultra Review: A True Flagship Killer with Power and Performance

Poco F7 Ultra packs a powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite, a 50MP triple camera, a 6.67" OLED display, and 120W fast charging.

Newest model in the range, Poco F7 Ultra offers flagship-level features at a cheap price. It retains the primary camera while adding an enhanced ultrawide lens and for the first time on a Poco phone, a telephoto camera.

Powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, it offers top-tier performance, unlike previous models that used older flagship chips. The phone also includes a 6.67-inch QHD OLED display, fast wired and wireless charging, a solid battery, and an IP68 ratingโ€”rare features for a Poco device.

It closely resembles the Redmi K80 Pro, with minor differences like battery size and color options. The packaging includes a protective case, but depending on the region, a 120W charger may not be included.

Design, build quality and handling Review

Poco F7 Ultra sticks to the brand’s signature bold design, with a glass back split into two sectionsโ€”glossy on the top and frosted on the rest. This two-tone finish not only looks stylish but also helps reduce fingerprints. The black variant swaps the matte texture for a shimmery effect, with contrasting rings around the camera moduleโ€”gold on the yellow model and copper on the black one.

The Poco F7 Ultra has a strong Poco Shield Glass for screen protection, giving durability without the high cost of branded glass. It also has an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner for fast and reliable unlocking. The flat aluminum frame provides a secure grip, and the SIM tray holds two nano SIMs, but there is no eSIM support.

With an IP68 rating, F7 Ultra is water & dust resistant. It can survive underwater up to 2.5 meters for 30 minutes which is even better than the usual IP68 standard. However, it does not have an IP69 rating, meaning it is not protected against high-temperature water.

Poco F7 Ultra Display Review

The Poco F7 Ultra boasts a 6.67-inch OLED screen with a high pixel density of 526 PPI and a crisp QHD resolution (1,440×3,200 pixels). For vivid and rich images, it offers Dolby Vision, 12-bit color, a smooth refresh rate of 120 Hz, and 3,840 Hz PWM dimming.

When used regularly, the screen’s brightness can reach 1,506 nits and at its highest, it can reach 3,200 nits. Users may manually modify the refresh rate to strike a balance between performance and battery life and adaptive brightness helps enhance visibility outside.

Poco F7 Ultra Battery & Charging Review

Although other competitors offer larger capacities, 5,300mAh battery offers good performance. It has 50W wireless charging, which is uncommon for Poco phones and 120W wired charging, which can be completed in roughly 30 minutes.

Poco F7 Ultra Audio & Speaker Performance Review

The sound produced by the dual speakers is well-balanced and loud. Gaming and media consumption are greatly enhanced by the immersive sound experience that is ensured by the channel isolation.

Poco F7 Ultra Software and performance Review

Poco F7 Ultra runs on Android 15 with Xiaomi’s HyperOS 2. It will receive 4 major OS updates and 6 years of security patches.

Although HyperOS 2.0 offers several Poco-specific features, it is similar to other Xiaomi devices. It has AI technologies like Circle to Search, Google Gemini for tasks and conversations, and more. While the Gallery app can alter backdrops and delete objects, the Notes app can translate and summarize text. Conversations can be translated and transcribed using the Recorder app, which also offers an interpreter and AI subtitles.

For photos, AI features allow you to remove objects, reflections, and even adjust the sky.

The phone is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, offering options of 12GB/256GB and 16GB/512GB. While it performs well, itโ€™s slightly behind other phones with the same chip.

Benchmark scores:

  • GeekBench Multi-core: 8887
  • AnTuTu 10: 2,580,520

The performance is strong but not the top among flagship phones.

Poco F7 Ultra Camera, photo and video quality Review

Poco F7 Ultra has a great camera setup with three lenses: a telephoto lens, an upgraded ultrawide lens, and a strong main camera.

The telephoto lens offers 2.5x zoom and can focus on objects as close as 9cm, making it perfect for detailed close-up shots. The 50MP main camera takes sharp, clear photos with great color and contrast.

The 32MP ultrawide camera gives better quality than older models and captures wide-angle shots with good color and detail, though it doesnโ€™t have autofocus.

The main camera takes vibrant, clear photos in daylight, and portraits have a nice, smooth background blur. The zoom camera is great for different portrait shots.

The telephoto lens is also good for close-ups, capturing detailed shots without blocking light.

Poco F7 Ultra offers strong camera performance, with the telephoto lens being a standout feature.
