Redmi Note 14 5G Review: Is This the Best Budget 5G Phone of 2025?
Redmi Note 14 5G offers smooth performance, a great display, and fast charging but could use more power for top-tier performance.

When you’re on a budget, Redmi Note is usually the first option you’d think of. Redmi Note 14 5G is shaping up to be one of the best offers around €300.
Compared to its predecessor, this phone has a fresh design, better build, faster performance, stereo speakers, upgraded cameras and faster charging. In fact, it has more upgrades than even Galaxy S25 series.
It has a new Dimensity 7025 Ultra chipset, with faster CPU and GPU. In most markets, you’ll find the 8GB/256GB version as the base model, although there’s a 6GB/128GB option too.
Camera setup includes a 108MP main camera with OIS, an 8MP ultrawide and a 2MP macro lens. The selfie camera is now 20MP.
Battery-wise, it’s 5000mAh, supporting 45W fast charging. Plus, it’s got stereo speakers, an under-display fingerprint sensor and an IP64 rating for dust and splash resistance.
Redmi Note 14 5G is a solid midrange phone with everything you’d expect at this price point and meaningful upgrades from the previous model.

Redmi Note 14 5G: My Experience with the Design, build quality and handling
Redmi Note 14 5G feels like a nice step up from its predecessor. Design is cleaner, with smoother edges and new colors. It still has a glass front, but the matte plastic back and frame make it comfortable to hold and resistant to fingerprints.
Gorilla Glass 5 on the front isn’t the newest, but it’s good against scratches. The camera module now has rounded corners with a glossy finish, giving it a modern touch.
I got Lavender Purple version, which has a cool multi-tone effect and a glittery finish. Black version is simpler but still has a subtle shine.
Xiaomi has improved the durability—it’s now IP64-rated, meaning it handles dust and splashes better. The reinforced corners and stronger frame make it feel sturdier.
6.67-inch AMOLED display has thin bezels, a small punch-hole camera, and now supports HDR10+. It’s brighter than before, so outdoor visibility is much better.
The stereo speakers are a big plus—the earpiece doubles as a second speaker, making the sound louder and clearer. Another great change is the under-display fingerprint sensor, which is fast and more convenient than the old side-mounted one.
The back looks sleek especially in Lavender Purple, and Xiaomi kept fan-favorite features like the 3.5mm headphone jack and IR blaster. The SIM tray is hybrid, meaning you can use two SIMs or swap one for a microSD card, but there’s no eSIM support.
It’s a bit heavier than Redmi Note 13 5G at 190g, but still feels balanced in hand. The matte finish gives a secure grip and only display picks up fingerprints.
Redmi Note 14 5G brings useful upgrades, like better durability, louder speakers and a brighter display. It’s a solid mid-range phone and I’m happy with the improvements!
Redmi Note 14 5G: My Experience with the Display, Battery, Charging, and Speakers
Display
6.67-inch AMOLED display on Redmi Note 14 5G feels bright and smooth, thanks to its 120Hz refresh rate. I noticed that outdoor visibility is much better than before especially with the peak brightness now reaching 2,100 nits. Watching videos in HDR10+ on YouTube and Netflix looks more vibrant, which is a nice upgrade.
The adaptive refresh rate works well—when I’m just reading or browsing, it drops to 60Hz to save battery, but when I scroll or game, it jumps back to 120Hz. It even lowers to 30Hz for the Always-On Display, though it only stays on for 10 seconds.
Battery Life
The 5,110mAh battery is slightly bigger than the Note 13 5G, and I’ve noticed some improvements in screen-on time. It lasts a full day with ease, even with heavy use. The call time is a bit lower, but overall, battery life is decent—not amazing, but not bad either.
Charging Speed
The 45W fast charging is a nice upgrade. Using the official Xiaomi charger, I was able to charge up to 60% in 30 minutes and fully charge in just over an hour. However, the EU model doesn’t come with a charger, so you’ll need to buy one separately if you don’t already have a USB-PD charger.
There are also charging settings—you can enable fast charging or standard charging for better battery health. There’s even a night mode that slows down charging and finishes just before your wake-up time.
Speakers & Audio
The stereo speakers are a big upgrade over the single speaker on the Note 13 5G. The sound is loud and clear, though it lacks bass. The Dolby Atmos enhancement is on by default, and while I wouldn’t call it amazing for music, it’s great for watching videos and gaming.
I like the Redmi Note 14 5G for its brighter display, improved battery life, and louder speakers. The fast charging is a plus, and the HDR10+ support makes videos look better. If you’re coming from Redmi Note 13 5G, these upgrades feel meaningful!
My Experience with HyperOS, Android 14 and Performance on Redmi Note 14 5G
Redmi Note 14 5G runs HyperOS based on Android 14 which is a familiar setup from Xiaomi. Even though latest Android 15 was released last year, this phone is still on Android 14 but it will get two major OS updates and four years of security patches, which is a solid promise.
Some cool AI features are available like AI Erase, AI Sky and AI Beautify in the gallery and there’s also support for Google’s Gemini AI. However, Pro models have extra features like AI Interpreter and AI Subtitles. One downside I noticed is ads in system apps which you can turn off but can be a bit annoying.
Redmi Note 14 5G’s MediaTek Dimensity 7025 processor is a little improvement over Dimensity 6080 from previous year. Although it performs well on a budget, it lags behind rivals in the same price range such as Poco X7 which boasts a more potent Dimensity 7300 chip.
The Redmi Note 14 5G outperforms some rivals in benchmarks and handles daily tasks smoothly. It runs long without throttling or overheating.
For its price, performance is decent, but it may need more power for top-tier performance in this range.
My Experience with Redmi Note 14 5G’s Cameras
Redmi Note 14 5G has a solid camera setup with a 108MP main camera, 8MP ultrawide and a 2MP macro camera. Front camera is now 20MP, upgraded from 16MP.
In good lighting, main camera takes clear, colorful photos, but sometimes it sharpens too much. 108MP mode is great for detailed shots but lighting is key. Portraits come out well too.
Ultrawide camera isn’t the best—it’s a bit soft and doesn’t have as much detail. Selfies are decent, but they can be a little soft and sometimes overexposed.
In low light, the main camera does a good job, keeping details clear with the Night mode. But the 3x zoom and ultrawide aren’t great at night—they’re too soft and noisy.
For videos, main camera records solid 4K footage with good colors but sharpness could be better. Night videos are surprisingly good with nice details in the dark.
For the price, the camera is fine, although the zoom and ultrawide might be improved.
