Samsung Galaxy A55 Review

Samsung Galaxy A55 offers a premium design, vibrant 6.6-inch display, smooth performance, and long-lasting battery at a mid-range price.

Samsung Galaxy A55 is fantastic option in 2024 if you’re searching for solid mid-range phone. Samsung enjoys solid reputation in this market and Galaxy A55 builds on that reputation by providing a great deal of value for the money. It still feels and looks like high-end smartphone even though it lacks some of flagship features of Samsung devices such as Galaxy S series.

Galaxy A55 has design that makes it stand out among other mid-range phones. It’s built with sleek and clean appearance similar to its predecessor Galaxy A54. One of key improvements is its new metal build, which replaces plastic used in earlier models. This change not only enhances its durability but also gives it more refined and stylish look.

Despite its lower price compared to flagship models Galaxy A55 offers premium feel that rivals some higher-end phones. In fact, some might find it even more attractive than latest Galaxy S24. Overall, Samsung Galaxy A55 is solid choice for those who want a high-quality smartphone without spending too much.

Samsung Galaxy A55 features 6.6-inch display which is slightly larger than 6.4-inch screen on A54. Even though phone is bigger it’s still easy to hold thanks to its aluminum frame which provides better grip. This design also helps keep large Super AMOLED display clean from fingerprints.

Camera setup remains the same as A54 with 50MP main camera, 12MP ultra-wide camera and 5MP macro camera. Photo and video quality is good and camera app works quickly. It performs well in low light though bright sunlight can sometimes lead to overexposed & hazy images.

Galaxy A55 has same 5,000mAh battery as its predecessor but lasts over seven hours on single charge with regular use thanks to new Exynos 1480 chipset. However, it doesn’t support wireless charging and charges slower than ideal. It’s not ideal for heavy mobile gamers but can handle medium settings on demanding games.

Overall, Galaxy A55 offers larger display, faster chipset and premium design at budget-friendly price, making it great value for money.

It is offered in two storage options—128GB and 256GB—with 8GB of RAM. There is also variant with 12GB of RAM available in India for ₹45,999, which converts to approximately AU$827 or £434. Pricing Information:

  • 8GB / 128GB: £439 (UK), AU$699 (Australia)
  • 8GB / 256GB: £489 (UK), N/A (Australia)
  • 12GB / 256GB: N/A (UK & Australia)

Australian prices are quite favorable compared to UK where £439 price tag converts to over AU$800. However, UK price is lower than launch prices of previous Galaxy A54 models which were £449 and £499. 6GB RAM option from last year is no longer available.

Google Pixel Buds Pro 2 Design

Galaxy A55 features aluminum build making it more durable and giving it premium feel. Phone uses Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+ on front and back, offering enhanced durability compared to A54. It also has IP67 rating making it resistant to dust and water. Glossy back glass, however, attracts fingerprints easily especially on darker colors like Navy.

In Australia, customers only have access to Awesome Lilac and Awesome Navy while UK also gets Awesome IceBlue and Awesome Lemon.

Google Pixel Buds Pro 2 Display

Galaxy A55 sports 6.6-inch display, slightly larger than A54’s 6.4-inch screen. It maintains 1080 x 2340 resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. Display is bright, reaching peak brightness of 1000 nits though this is less impressive compared to some high-end models. Despite this, display is vibrant and enjoyable for various activities including gaming and media consumption. Built-in fingerprint sensor is accurate but not fastest while facial recognition can be inconsistent.

Google Pixel Buds Pro 2 Software

Galaxy A55 runs on Android 14 with One UI 6.1. It offers four years of OS updates and introduces features like Seamless Updates, which allows for quicker system updates. It also includes Knox Vault for added security. While software is familiar and functional it does not include some advanced features found in higher-end models.

Google Pixel Buds Pro 2 Camera

Camera system includes 50MP main sensor, 12MP ultra-wide lens and 5MP macro lens, with 32MP front camera for selfies. While camera performs well in most conditions, it struggles with overexposure in bright sunlight. Night mode is effective, providing good low-light performance. Overall, camera system is solid but not exceptional compared to other devices in price range.

Google Pixel Buds Pro 2 Performance and Audio

Galaxy A55 is powered by new Exynos 1480 chipset and offers smooth performance in everyday tasks and gaming. It performs well in benchmarks and handles high-performance apps with minimal lag. Stereo speakers provide clear and balanced sound though audiophiles might prefer higher-end audio equipment.

Google Pixel Buds Pro 2 Battery

Galaxy A55 comes with 5,000mAh battery which provides good battery life but charges slower than expected. It takes about 90 minutes to fully charge and while it offers excellent battery life in daily use, charging speed could be better.

Overall, Samsung Galaxy A55 is well-rounded device with notable improvements in design, display and performance but it has some areas where it could be enhanced particularly in camera performance and charging speed.
