Vivo V40e Review: Easy on the Eyes

Vivo V40e offers a sleek design, vibrant display, smooth performance, and impressive camera for a great price. A solid all-rounder.

Vivo V40e is sleek, lightweight and easy to hold, which is great as phones have gotten larger recently. I got the Royal Bronze version which looks amazing and gives the phone a unique touch. Matte finish not only feels premium but also helps prevent scratches.

Sides are composed of plastic, which is standard at this pricing point. While it covers the phone, the plastic is easily scratched, particularly if you do not use a case. So, it’s best to utilize the provided case.

Buttons are well-placed, and the in-display fingerprint sensor works fast and reliably—even with sweaty fingers after a workout.

Phone’s display is protected by Schott Sensation Up glass, and it comes with a pre-installed screen protector. It also has IP64 dust and water resistance, so it can handle splashes but isn’t meant for full submersion.

Vivo V40e Display

6.5-inch Full HD+ 120Hz AMOLED display on Vivo V40e is great. The colors are vibrant, and everything feels smooth, whether I’m watching Netflix or scrolling through Instagram. Vivo also adds a feature that boosts colors and contrast on platforms like YouTube and Netflix.

Edges of the display curve, which looks nice but might be tricky if you like to hold your phone tightly.

What impressed me the most was the brightness. Many budget phones struggle in bright sunlight but V40e handles it easily with its high-brightness mode.

120Hz refresh rate made everything feel smooth when scrolling through apps or navigating menus. Best part is that it stays at 120Hz even in third-party apps like YouTube, Instagram and Gmail, so there’s no lag or drop in performance.

Vivo V40e Performance

Vivo V40e is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 chip with combination of Cortex-A78 and Cortex-A55 cores and Mali-G615 MP2 GPU. My review unit had 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.

In terms of performance, phone handled multiple apps and light gaming smoothly. Apps loaded quickly and I didn’t experience any lag when switching tasks.

V40e scored 1030 on Geekbench’s single-core test and 2999 on multi-core. It got 685,730 points on AnTuTu. During a 30-minute stress test, it maintained 94% of its peak performance.

I played BGMI on the “Smooth” and “Extreme” levels. It performed well for casual gaming while without overheating, thanks to its cooling mechanism.

Vivo V40e Battery Life

V40e features a huge 5,500mAh battery and came up to my expectations. I received around 9 hours of screen time with moderate use, such as streaming and gaming. On brighter days, it persisted till the following afternoon. The 80W charger also quickly charged the battery from 20% to 80% in just over 30 minutes.

Vivo V40e Cameras

V40e features a dual-camera setup: a 50MP primary camera with OIS and 8MP ultra-wide lens.

In daylight, the primary camera takes sharp and vibrant photos, with accurate colors and great detail. However, it may struggle with fast-moving subjects. Camera also doubles as the portrait lens, capturing sharp, natural-looking portraits with good depth.

8MP ultra-wide lens performs well in good light but struggles in low light or indoors, where image quality drops.

Night mode helps with low-light shots, capturing details and maintaining color accuracy, though darker areas can show some grain.

V40e also has Aura lighting, a powerful flash for well-lit photos in dark environments, with adjustable light temperature.

For selfies, 50MP front camera delivers sharp, vibrant pictures, and you can choose from three different focal lengths.

Vvo V40e Software

V40e runs on FunTouch OS 14 with Android 14. It’s easy to customize, letting you change themes and icons. vivo promises updates for two years and security patches for three years.

It also has AI features like smart removal, which removes objects from photos, and AI image enhancement, which improves old photos and adds details.
