Vivo V50 is a stylish and powerful phone, released in February 2025. It runs on Android 15 with Funtouch 15 and will get up to 3 major updates. The phone uses the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chip and has a big 6000mAh battery, giving you smooth performance and long battery life.
The phone features a 6.77-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and an impressive peak brightness of 4500 nits making it great for outdoor use. For photography it has a dual 50MP main camera system with Zeiss optics and a 50MP selfie camera, both capable of recording in 4K.

Vivo V50 Design, Build Quality and Handling Review
The Vivo V50 keeps a familiar look, much like the previous V40 model. It features curved front and back panels with a slim frame. The camera design is still a two-step layout with a round lens and an oval Aura flash.
Vivo has reduced the curve of the display this time, making it more comfortable to use. The screen now has a gentle 2.5D curve which feels better for everyday handling.
The Vivo V50 comes with IP68 and IP69 ratings, meaning it’s well protected against dust and water. It uses glass on the front and back, while the frame is made of plastic.
Interestingly, the Titanium Gray version uses a plastic back, while the Starry Night model has a holographic finish that shows 3D star-like effects when it catches the light. The Rose Red and Mist Purple versions (like the one we tested) have matte glass backs that resist fingerprints.
Vivo promotes its new Diamond Shield glass, developed with Schott, which claims to be 50% stronger against drops than the previous generation.
The front of the phone is mostly screen, with slim bezels and a 6.77-inch AMOLED display. The punch-hole camera is small, and the Diamond Shield glass adds extra protection.
The 50MP front camera now features Zeiss optics, although there’s no dedicated flash. Above it, the earpiece doubles as a stereo speaker.
The under-display fingerprint sensor works fast and reliably. Plus, Vivo includes a pre-applied screen protector, which you can keep or replace if you prefer.
The Mist Purple back looks stunning, especially under different lighting. The two-step camera setup includes dual 50MP cameras, a color spectrum sensor and an adjustable Aura light.
The matte back feels smooth and resists fingerprints but doesn’t provide much grip. The plastic frame has a glossy finish which can attract fingerprints but offers some hold.

The display can reach a peak brightness of 4500 nits, with a maximum brightness of 1300 nits. In our tests, the screen achieved 1274 nits of peak brightness in auto mode and 588 nits in manual mode. The minimum brightness is as low as 2.1 nits, ensuring comfortable viewing in low light.
The V50’s display supports 120Hz refresh rate, with options for High (120Hz), Standard (60Hz), and Smart Switch, which adjusts refresh rates based on content.
Battery Life: The Vivo V50 packs a 6,000mAh battery, offering improved endurance compared to its predecessors. Vivo claims 16 hours of YouTube video playback and 9 hours of gaming. In testing, it lasted 19 hours on video and 9 hours on gaming.
Charging Speed: The Vivo V50 supports 90W FlashCharge, allowing it to charge to 40% in just 15 minutes. It reaches 71% after 30 minutes, with a full charge taking approximately 46 minutes. While it’s fast, it’s not the quickest compared to other 90W systems.
Speakers: The Vivo V50 features stereo speakers, providing a good loudness score. However, the sound quality is average. While there’s some bass and clarity in high frequencies, vocals are less prominent.
Vivo V50: Android 15, Funtouch 15, and Performance
Android 15 and Funtouch 15: The Vivo V50 runs on Android 15, paired with the company’s Funtouch OS 15. This combination offers a smooth experience and will receive 3 major OS updates, ensuring good future support.
While Funtouch OS 15 brings features like large folders, split-screen, and pop-up windows, it doesn’t feel much different from previous versions. The app drawer holds widgets, and there are useful features like Google’s Circle search and Gemini AI assistant.

Main Camera Upgrade: V50 uses a new main sensor called OmniVision OV50E. It gives you clear and sharp photos. The other two cameras use the same Samsung sensor as before, for ultrawide shots and selfies.
