Vivo X200 Pro Global Edition Review

Vivo X200 Pro Global Edition offers great performance, stunning display, and a top telephoto camera, but with a few camera shortcomings.

Vivo X200 Pro Global Edition is getting key upgrades from the X100 Ultra including a fantastic telephoto camera, better battery tech, and a new chipset. While X100 Ultra stays exclusive to China, X200 Pro brings these features to a global audience.

The main highlight is the camera system. Telephoto lens has a 200MP sensor with 3.7x optical zoom, which has already shown impressive results in the X100 Ultra. The main camera now features a new 1/1.28″ Sony sensor, which is expected to deliver top performance, though it’s not the same as X100 Ultra’s 1-inch sensor. The ultrawide camera is carried over from the X100 Pro, while the selfie camera is similar to previous models.

X200 Pro also benefits from a silicon-carbon battery that improves energy density and the 6,000mAh battery is one of the largest in its class. It’s powered by Mediatek’s Dimensity 9400 chipset and includes a few features from X100 Ultra such as the ultrasonic fingerprint sensor and IP69 rating for water and dust resistance.

Vivo X200 Pro Global Edition Design, build quality, handling

Vivo X200 Pro has a similar design to the X100 series but with updates. The large camera cluster is still there but the overall look feels fresh.

The front has a flatter, more rounded display, making it feel premium and easier to hold than older curved designs. The sides are flat with an aluminum frame, offering better grip.

A standout feature is the IP69 rating which means the X200 Pro can handle high-temperature water jets, something most phones with IP68 can’t. It also has dust and water resistance with IP68.

The back is glass, with four colors in China. Carbon Black and Titanium Gray are matte, while Moonlight White and Sapphire Blue are glossy. The Sapphire Blue has a wavy pattern that shines in the light.

The front uses durable Armor Glass and the phone now has an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor for faster and more reliable unlocking, even with sweaty or oily fingers.

Vivo X200 Pro Global Edition Display, battery life, charging speed, speakers

Display
The X200 Pro has a 6.78-inch OLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate and energy-saving 0.1Hz. It reduces flicker with 2160Hz PWM dimming at low brightness. The screen has a sharp 1,280×2,800 resolution, 452ppi, and can get as bright as 1,900 nits. It supports HDR10+ and Dolby Vision for better video and HDR photos.

Battery Life
The X200 Pro has a 6,000mAh battery, lasting about 10 hours of gaming, 14 hours of web browsing, and 18 hours of video. It offers around 30 hours of voice calls.

Charging Speed
It supports 90W wired charging, taking about 49 minutes to fully charge. For wireless charging, it supports up to 30W.

Audio
The X200 Pro has stereo speakers with clear sound but the bass is not as deep as some other models.

Vivo X200 Pro Global Edition Software, performance

Vivo X200 Pro runs Android 15 with the global version of Funtouch OS 15, offering a reliable software experience. While the design feels slightly outdated, it includes useful features like large folders, split-screen multitasking and a handy app drawer with widgets.

Global model adds Google’s Circle search, Gemini AI assistant and screen translation with Google Lens. It also supports live call translation, AI tools in Notes and a gallery editor for removing objects. Some features may depend on your region.

Powered by the Dimensity 9400 chip, the phone delivers 35% faster single-core and 28% better multi-core performance than before. Its advanced CPU and GPU enable ray tracing and efficient power use.

Benchmarks show that the Vivo X200 Pro outperforms earlier models while falling significantly behind Snapdragon 8 Elite competitors. It can withstand consistent heavy use, but not at the top degree.

Vivo X200 Pro combines modern software, AI features, and strong performance, making it a great flagship option.

Vivo X200 Pro Global Edition Camera, photo and video quality: Chinese model

Vivo X200 Pro improves on its zoom and telephoto cameras, while the main camera has only minor changes. The 200MP 3.7x telephoto lens still takes clear, detailed shots, though its focus distance is slightly different from X100 Ultra. New 50MP main camera has a smaller sensor, which may affect some details, but it performs similarly to previous models. Ultrawide and front cameras don’t show much improvement.

In good lighting, main camera takes great photos with accurate colors and good details. The telephoto camera performs well with sharp, detailed shots especially in Portrait mode. X200 Pro offers some nice improvements but it’s not a huge upgrade in all areas.

The ultrawide camera is decent but not amazing, and the 50MP mode doesn’t offer much extra benefit. The selfies are okay but don’t live up to the 32MP claim, and there’s no autofocus.

In low light, the main camera and telephoto camera still capture vibrant, detailed images. However, the detail is a bit lower compared to previous models like the X100 Ultra. Ultrawide camera performs decently but lacks sharpness.

Vivo X200 Pro has solid performance especially with its telephoto camera but the improvements aren’t huge in every area.

Camera comparison: Global vs. Chinese model

Daylight Photos:

Both the global and Chinese Vivo X200 Pro cameras are similar in daylight. There are no big differences in color, exposure, or sharpness, though the global version sometimes has slight focusing issues at zoom.

  • Main Camera (1x): Same results on both versions.
  • Zoom (2x): Both versions look similar, but the global version may lose some sharpness.
  • Telephoto Camera (3.7x): Same great quality on both versions.
  • 10x Zoom: The Chinese version is a bit sharper.
  • Ultrawide Camera: Both are good but not exceptional.

Low-Light Photos:

In low light, both versions perform well with similar results. The Chinese version may handle zoom a bit better.

  • Main Camera (1x): Both do well.
  • Zoom (2x): Same quality, but the Chinese version is slightly better in low light.
  • Telephoto (3.7x and 10x): Both perform well, with the Chinese version being a little sharper at 10x zoom.
  • Ultrawide Camera: Similar results on both.

Pros and Cons

Pros🟥Cons
✅ IP69 rating (extra protection)⚡ Average charging speed
✅ One of the brightest displays📸 So-so ultrawide camera
✅ Class-leading battery life📷 Main camera is a bit of a downgrade
✅ Excellent telephoto camera (night & close range)🤳 Selfies could be better

Conclusion

X200 Pro is a solid phone, meant to be the global version of the X100 Ultra. It mostly works, but there’s room for improvement.

The main camera is good, but not the best Vivo can do. The ultrawide camera is just okay, and the selfie camera isn’t top-notch.

The best feature is the telephoto camera, which was great on the X100 Ultra, and it’s now available globally. The small difference in focus distance isn’t a big deal.

X200 Pro also has some nice features like better water resistance, longer battery life, and a bright display. The chipset is strong, but not the best.

X200 Pro has some small flaws but is still a great phone. We’re wondering if a better version will come soon.
