Vivo X200 Pro Review: 200MP Camera Beast with Powerful Processor
Explore the Vivo X200 Pro review: a 200MP camera beast packed with a powerful MediaTek Dimensity 9400 processor and stellar performance.
We’ve been testing Vivo X200 Pro for five days in cities like Beijing, Shenzhen and London. We focused on its standout features: 200MP periscope camera, large battery and new MediaTek Dimensity 9400 processor. While version we have is designed for Chinese market and isn’t fully ready for Western users, camera performance is impressive. Phone is expected to launch later this year in more markets including Europe.
If you’ve used Vivo X90 Pro or X100 Pro, you’ll know they have a 1-inch main camera sensor. Vivo X200 Pro changes this by using a smaller 1/1.28-inch main sensor but upgrading the periscope zoom sensor to a whopping 200MP. This makes it one of best zoom cameras on smartphone.
Vivo has built a strong reputation for mobile photography often working with Zeiss to improve their camera technology. Their flagship X series and V series phones like V40 and V40 Pro, feature high-quality camera hardware. Vivo X Fold 3 Pro, regarded as one of top foldable phones of 2024 was also released by them.
He discussed how Vivo wants to help both professional photographers & regular users in recent conversation with Keshav Chugh Vivo’s Product Manager for Camera and R&D. They combine advanced software with high-resolution cameras to help people take better photos.
With Vivo X200 Pro’s powerful camera, we’re excited to see how it performs in real-life situations.

Vivo X200 Pro Camera Specs
Vivo X200 Pro has three cameras: a powerful 200MP telephoto lens, a 50MP ultra-wide lens and a 50MP main camera made with Sony. Telephoto lens can take close-up shots from just 15 cm away which is better than many competitors.
Main camera has features that improve video quality, allowing for 4K recording with Dolby Vision. Ultra-wide camera also performs well, though a wider lens would be better for videos.
Vivo X200 Pro Camera Performance
Camera system on Vivo X200 Pro works well together offering great photos from all lenses. Telephoto lens is especially useful for portraits and close-ups, delivering excellent image quality.
Vivo’s processing keeps photos clear and balanced. Portrait mode captures movement well and allows you to adjust the background blur after taking the shot.
While zooming past 10x, camera relies on software which is good for landscapes but can distort faces and text. Phone performs impressively in video, offering high-quality results.
Running on Android 15, X200 Pro has a bright, colorful 6.78-inch display and powerful MediaTek Dimensity 9400 chipset. Its 6000mAh battery supports fast charging and keeps design sleek, despite weighing 228g.
Design and Handling
Vivo X200 Pro maintains a design similar to its predecessors, featuring a large circular camera module on the back and curved design. It has IP68/69 rating for water and dust resistance and is made of glass on both sides with an aluminum frame.
Frame is now semi-flat, making it feel a bit different from X100 Pro. The new quad-curved display has uniform curves on all sides and very thin bezels (1.63mm).
You can choose from four colors: Sapphire Blue, Titanium Grey, Moonlight White and Carbon Black. Carbon Black and Moonlight White versions have a matte finish, while Sapphire Blue and Titanium Grey are glossy. In low light, Sapphire Blue can appear black, revealing its brushed patterns only in certain lighting.
Despite the design changes, X200 Pro feels familiar and ergonomic.
Hardware and Features
X200 Pro features a 6.78-inch LTPO OLED display with a resolution of 1260 x 2800 pixels, supporting a 120Hz refresh rate and HDR10+. This display has Zeiss Natural Color enhancements for better color accuracy and visibility in sunlight with a peak brightness of 4,500 nits.
It is powered by new MediaTek Dimensity 9400 chipset which promises improved performance and efficiency. Chip uses a 3nm process and has an octa-core CPU.
In benchmark tests, Dimensity 9400 outperforms previous chips indicating strong performance.
Additionally, X200 Pro now supports SOS text broadcasting without cellular networks and includes various AI features with chipset.
Phone has a large 6,000 mAh battery, an upgrade from last year’s model and it uses BlueVolt technology for better performance in extreme temperatures. Wired charging is now 90W and wireless charging remains at 50W.

Vivo X200 Pro Conclusion
Vivo X200 Pro has amazing zoom capabilities for a smartphone. It combines top-notch hardware and software for excellent telephoto performance, setting a high standard for other brands.
However, image processing isn’t perfect. Chinese version we tested had heavy beautification for portraits and sometimes AI zoom made images look overly polished compared to what we saw live.
We’re not sure if the new sensor is better than the older models, especially in low light. For example: Xiaomi 14 Ultra captured slightly clearer videos and images.
Despite these minor issues, taking photos and videos with Vivo X200 Pro is enjoyable especially with its strong telephoto camera. All cameras perform well.
If you’re considering Vivo X200 Pro, a global version may be available soon and it could be a top contender in smartphone cameras.
