Huawei Pura 70 Ultra is a top smartphone from Huawei, designed for great photography. It has a powerful Kirin 9010 chip & excellent features.
Camera system is impressive. It has 50MP main camera with stabilization, 40MP ultrawide camera and 50MP telephoto camera with 3.5x optical zoom. For selfies there’s 13MP camera.
Phone looks modern with a curved design and an eco-leather back. It has strong Kunlun Glass, aluminum frame and is water and dust resistant (IP68).
It has large 6.8-inch LTPO OLED screen with sharp 1260p resolution and smooth 120Hz refresh rate. 5,200mAh battery charges quickly with 100W wired and 80W wireless options.
However, Kirin 9010 chip is mid-range even though price is high. It also doesn’t have Google Mobile Services which might bother some users.

Huawei PURA 70 Ultra Design, Build Quality and Handling
Huawei Pura 70 Ultra has modern flagship look with slightly curved edges, large screen featuring small cutout and unique back panel that houses a large camera setup. It is also IP68-rated, meaning it is resistant to dust and water.
Front features Crystal Armor Kunlun Glass which is said to be 300% stronger than that of Pura 70 Pro & Pura 70. This glass is scratch-resistant and offers good drop protection. Frame is made of polished aluminum, curved to match design.
Back is made of eco-leather, matching front’s curvature. Large camera housing contains three high-quality cameras: 40MP ultrawide camera, 50MP retractable primary camera & 50MP periscope zoom camera. Retractable lens helps keep the camera housing compact. Huawei claims this mechanism can handle over 300,000 uses.
Pura 70 Ultra comes in white, brown & black. It features 6.8-inch X-True Display LTPO OLED screen with thin bezels & 13MP selfie camera. Display offers resolution of 1,260 x 2,844 pixels, supports HDR10 has 120Hz refresh rate & can reach up to 2,500 nits of brightness.
Phone has under-display fingerprint scanner and a hybrid stereo speaker setup, using both earpiece and a bottom speaker. However, it does not have memory card slot for expansion.
Huawei Pura 70 Ultra measures 162.6 x 75.1 x 8.4 mm and weighs 226 grams, similar to iPhone 15 Pro Max. It has futuristic design and feels great to hold even without case. Despite its large camera housing, it offers positive user experience in daily use.

Huawei Pura 70 Ultra has 6.8-inch LTPO OLED screen with 1260p resolution and smooth 120Hz refresh rate. It can get very bright, up to 2,500 nits. Screen is protected by tough Crystal Armor Kunlun Glass which is three times stronger than regular glass and resists scratches well.
You can choose from three refresh rates: 60Hz, 120Hz or Dynamic (which adjusts automatically).
HDR Vivid (HDR10) is supported by phones for higher-quality video. Other apps can stream in Full HD, however Netflix only streams in SD. HDR10 can be enabled for streaming by using GBox.
Massive 5,200mAh battery of Huawei Pura 70 Ultra offers exceptional battery life. It works well for calls & videos and lasts for roughly 12 hours and 29 minutes when used actively.
It supports fast charging at 100W and wireless charging at 80W. Charger can fill battery to 29% in 5 minutes and up to 90% in 30 minutes with full charge taking around 48 minutes.
Phone has stereo speakers with good sound quality including balanced bass & clear vocals.
Huawei PURA 70 Ultra EMUI 14.2 (Harmony OS 4.2)
EMUI 14.2 is version of Harmony OS 4 used outside China. It has new themes, better security & improved features for Celia assistant and Health app. It runs on Android 12 core.
Apps can be installed from other sources or Huawei’s AppGallery. GBox tool makes it simple to launch Google apps.
User Interface: Interface looks familiar with large folders and customizable widgets. It supports air gestures & keeps the screen on when you’re looking at it.
Default Apps: Huawei includes many apps like Gallery, Music, Video, Health & File Manager. You can also use Petal Maps & Petal Search but AppGallery sometimes shows ads.
Performance: Pura 70 Ultra has powerful Kirin 9010 chipset & comes with 16GB of RAM & storage options of 256GB, 512GB or 1TB (larger sizes are only in China). It performs well especially for gaming but isn’t as powerful as latest Snapdragon 8 chipsets.
Battery and Connectivity: It supports 5G in China but is limited to 4G in Europe.

Huawei Pura 70 Ultra has fantastic camera with three lenses:

The camera app is user-friendly and can adjust settings automatically. You can also manually change settings if you want.
Photos look great with sharp details and nice colors. Main camera can blur backgrounds nicely.

Conclusion
Huawei Pura 70 Ultra is Huawei’s best phone. It has bright screen, nice design, good build quality and great speakers. It charges super fast & has strong operating system. Camera takes amazing photos.
However, it has some problems. It doesn’t support 5G or Google Mobile Services (GMS). It also doesn’t have latest Android version & video quality isn’t great for such expensive camera phone.
While it might do well in China, it mainly shows off Huawei’s technology because of US sanctions. Outside China, it will mostly attract people looking for high-end alternative to Android and iOS.
