Infinix Hot 50 Pro Plus 4G Review

Infinix Hot 50 Pro+ 4G offers a 50MP main camera, stylish design, and decent performance, making it a budget-friendly smartphone option.

Infinix Hot 50 Pro Plus 4G is a sleek, slim phone with a light design. It’s available in colors like Sleek Black, Titanium Grey, Dreamy Purple, and the new Blossom Pink with a vegan leather finish.

It looks good, but donโ€™t expect top-tier hardware. However, it has some nice features, such as a bright 120Hz AMOLED display, JBL-tuned stereo speakers, fast UFS 2.2 storage and a large 5,000mAh battery.

Key specs:

  • 6.78″ AMOLED display, 120Hz, Gorilla Glass
  • MediaTek Helio G100 chipset
  • 128GB or 256GB storage, expandable
  • 50MP main camera, 2MP depth sensor, 13MP selfie
  • 5,000mAh battery with 33W fast charging
  • Android 14 with XOS 14.5

Phoneโ€™s camera setup is underwhelming with only one useful camera and the third โ€œcameraโ€ is either fake or unnecessary. It also has minimal water resistance (IP54) and a mostly plastic build. On the plus side, it supports fast charging and reverse charging.

Infinix Hot 50 Pro Plus Design, build quality, handling

Infinix Hot 50 Pro+ 4G stands out with its stylish design. It’s slim, only 6.8mm thick and has smooth, curved edges, making it very comfortable to hold. Phone is also lightweight, weighing just 162 grams despite having a large 6.78-inch display and a 5,000mAh battery.

Back of phone has a unique camera design and a plastic build that looks like metal. It comes in different colors, including the Blossom Pink version with faux vegan leather which has a nice texture and a geometric pattern.

While most of the phone is plastic, it feels solid with no flex. Display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass. Phone has basic water resistance (IP54), so it’s best to keep it dry.

Power and volume buttons are easy to reach, though theyโ€™re thin, making them slightly harder to press. Hot 50 Pro+ also features stereo speakers, with one speaker at the top and one at the bottom. Bezels around the display are small and the sensors, including the fingerprint reader, are hidden under the screen. Fingerprint reader is quick and accurate.

Back of phone has a unique camera design and plastic build that looks like metal. It comes in different colors, including the Blossom Pink version with faux vegan leather which has a nice texture and a geometric pattern.

It has stereo speakers that are loud with clear sound, but the bass is weak. Overall, itโ€™s decent for a budget phone.

Phone supports 4G, dual SIM, GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and NFC. It doesnโ€™t have eSIM or a 3.5mm headphone jack but has an FM radio. USB port is basic and it includes useful sensors like an accelerometer.

Infinix Hot 50 Pro Plus Software and performance

Infinix Hot 50 Pro+ runs on XOS 14.5, which is based on Android 14. It wonโ€™t get the latest Android updates, but Infinix promises smooth operation for five years.

Phone has helpful AI features like text optimization, grammar checking, and an image generator in the notes app. The gallery also includes a smart object eraser.

Powered by the MediaTek Helio G100 chip, the phone has 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage. It handles daily tasks easily and can manage light gaming. It scores well on benchmarks, showing decent performance for its price.

Phone doesnโ€™t overheat during heavy use and stays cool even after long periods of use.

Infinix Hot 50 Pro Plus Camera, photo and video quality

Infinix Hot 50 Pro+ 4G has a dual-camera setup, but it appears as a triple-camera system. It features a 50MP main camera, a 2MP depth camera and a 13MP selfie camera. Third lens on the back isn’t a full camera but likely a special sensor. Despite the appearance of extra cameras, the setup isn’t very versatile, as it lacks an ultrawide lens.

Main camera takes decent photos with good colors and detail, but it struggles with dynamic range, often clipping highlights and dark shadows. Photos taken with the 2x zoom are softer and fuzzier. Portraits are decent, with good subject detection and background blur, though dynamic range issues persist.

50MP mode captures more detail but doesnโ€™t dramatically improve the image quality. Additionally, using the 50MP mode with 2x zoom doesn’t offer better results. Camera UI is clean, but there are no advanced modes like a pro mode.

Pros and Cons of Infinix Hot 50 Pro Plus

ProsCons
๐Ÿชถ Lightweight and stylish๐Ÿšซ No 5G connectivity
๐ŸŒŸ Good AMOLED display for the price๐Ÿค– Virtual proximity sensor
๐Ÿ”Š Decent stereo speakers๐Ÿ“ท Only one usable camera with average quality
โšก Stable performance over time๐ŸŽฅ No HDR video support on the screen

Conclusion

Infinix Hot 50 Pro+ 4G has some good points: a solid display, decent speakers, good battery life, and a nice design. It also has useful features with XOS.

However, it only supports 4G, has basic water resistance, and the camera isnโ€™t great despite looking like a triple camera setup. The chip isnโ€™t very powerful, but the phone runs smoothly. Infinix promises five years of smooth use but only one major update.

If you like the design, itโ€™s a good option for the price but if you want a more balanced phone, consider other choices.
