Samsung Galaxy A06 Design and Build

Samsung Galaxy A06 has a basic, updated look similar to last year’s model. The buttons are now on a raised section on the right side.

Feel and Materials

It’s lightweight at 195 grams and feels solid. Phone is mostly plastic including the back and sides, with a textured pattern that’s practical but not fancy.

Colors and Front Glass

Available in Blue, White, and Gold. The Gold might be flashy for some, but the other colors are more subtle. The front has durable glass instead of plastic.

Durability

Phone is sturdy and easy to keep clean. We didn’t scratch the screen during the review.

Controls and Features

Power button has a quick fingerprint reader. Volume buttons are easy to use. SIM/microSD tray holds two SIMs and a microSD card. There’s no water resistance.

Ports and Display

Top has a microphone, and the bottom has a speaker, microphone, Type-C port and headphone jack. The screen has a small notch and slimmed-down bezels, with an 83.8% screen-to-body ratio.

Samsung Galaxy A06 Display

Samsung Galaxy A06 features a basic PLS LCD display with HD resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels and 60Hz refresh rate. Its brightness reaches up to 564 nits which isn’t very bright, and the screen is quite reflective. It lacks HDR support but does offer HD streaming.

Phone’s 5,000 mAh battery lasts about 13 hours and 50 minutes of continuous use. However, it charges slowly at just 2W, so faster charging would be better. The single bottom speaker is loud enough but lacks bass and can get distorted at high volumes. It does support Dolby Atmos and some Bluetooth audio features.

Samsung Galaxy A06 supports dual nano-SIM cards (check if it’s single-SIM in some areas) and offers LTE only, with no 5G or eSIM. For location- it has GPS and other systems like GLONASS. It includes Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.2 but lacks NFC. It has a headphone jack and FM radio.

Phone has Type-C port with USB 2.0 for data transfer, supporting OTG/USB Host but no video output. Sensors include accelerometer and a light/proximity sensor but it doesn’t have a magnetometer, gyroscope or barometer.

Samsung Galaxy A06 One UI 6.1 on Android 14

Samsung Galaxy A06 uses Samsung’s One UI 6.1 on top of Android 14. It has a similar look to the flagship S24 series but lacks some advanced features and the long-term software support found in higher-end models. It will get two major Android updates and four years of security patches.

Samsung Galaxy A06 Performance and Benchmarks

Samsung Galaxy A06 has a MediaTek Helio G85 processor, which is basic. It comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, expandable with a microSD card. Performance is modest, with lower benchmark scores compared to other budget phones. The graphics performance is decent for the price.

Samsung Galaxy A06 Thermal Performance

Samsung Galaxy A06 doesn’t get very hot and remains comfortable to hold even during extended use.

Samsung Galaxy A06 Camera

Main Camera: Samsung Galaxy A06 has a 50 MP main camera that takes good photos with decent detail but sometimes off colors and noticeable noise. It also has a 2 MP macro camera for close-up shots.

Selfie Camera: 8 MP front camera takes decent selfies with natural skin tones but lacks detail and sharpness.

Low-Light Performance: Main camera struggles in low light but improves with night mode. The selfie camera also performs poorly in low light, though night mode helps.

Video Quality: Both cameras record videos in 1080p. Video quality is not great, with no stabilization and mono audio.

Samsung Galaxy A06 Pros and Cons

ProsCons
🏋️‍♂️ Solid and lightweight build🚫 No charger included
📱 Fast and accurate fingerprint reader🔳 Dim, low-res display with ghosting
🔋 Good battery life🔈 Weak speaker
📻 FM radio and proximity sensor🚫 No NFC and few sensors
🐢 Slow performance with lots of lag
📸 Mediocre photos and videos

Samsung Galaxy A06 Conclusion

Samsung Galaxy A06 is quite disappointing. It feels like a repeat of last year’s A05, with no real improvements. The 6.7-inch HD display is big but not very sharp, and it has issues with brightness and ghosting. The single speaker is weak, and the phone lacks protection against water or dust.

The pPRAM. Storage is limited to 64GB, though you can add more with a microSD card. The camera is average, and while the battery life is decent, it’s not exceptional.

The best features are the side-mounted fingerprint reader and microSD card slot. Overall, if you’re considering a Samsung phone, A15 or A25 might be better choices, or you might find a better deal with other brands.
