TECNO Phantom V Fold was launched over a year ago and now its successor, Phantom V Fold 2, has arrived. I’ve been using the new model for a while, and even though I didn’t review the first one, I did check it out briefly, which helped me when reviewing TECNO Phantom V Fold 2.
I was pleasantly surprised by this phone. It feels like a big improvement from the original and considering the price, that’s a great thing. There are many positives about Phantom V Fold 2, but of course, we’ll also look at some negatives.

TECNO Phantom V Fold 2 Design
Design of TECNO Phantom V Fold 2 stands out as something truly impressive. Tecno collaborated with LOEWE, known for creating luxury items and Rippling Blue colorway is a masterpiece. Vegan leather back gives it a unique texture, almost like watching water flow, which is both refreshing and elegant compared to some other foldables that try too hard to be sophisticated.
Camera module has a squared shape, different from more rounded edges and outer screen. However, all surface elements like antennas, speakers and Mics are perfectly symmetrical, which adds to its appeal. If you’re tired of typical smartphone designs and want something more vibrant and unique, this phone is a great choice.
TECNO Phantom V Fold 2 Build Quality
When it comes to foldable phones, people often focus on thickness and hinge quality, so let’s break that down for TECNO Phantom V Fold 2. While it’s not the thinnest foldable out there, it manages to keep a sleek profile. When phone is folded, it closes completely with no gap which is great for protection. The sides of phone have a smooth, mellow curve, making it more comfortable to hold securely in your hand. When unfolded, device still feels slim and rounded corners give it a nice, comfortable grip in both hands.
As for hinge, it’s impressively smooth. You can easily open phone and prop it up at almost any angle, though it doesn’t quite lock at very last point. Even so, it performs well for typical foldable phone tasks. When fully unfolded, hinge stays flat and inner screen has a barely noticeable crease, giving phone a seamless, clean look. Overall, design and hinge work together to provide a solid, enjoyable experience.
TECNO Phantom V Fold 2 Screen
Like its predecessor, TECNO Phantom V Fold 2 has a 3D half-curved outer screen, located on side with buttons. If you’re right-handed, this design makes gesture controls easier. Outer screen is a 6.42-inch AMOLED display with a 21:9 aspect ratio, supporting a 120Hz refresh rate. It reaches up to 1600 nits of brightness and features 2160Hz high-frequency PWM dimming. This means you’re getting a flagship-level display. Inner screen is even larger at 7.85 inches, with similar specs, making it ideal for browsing, social media, or watching videos on a bigger screen. If you’re considering your first foldable phone, this one is worth looking at.
TECNO Phantom V Fold 2 User Experience
Phone also comes with a smart pen that adds a lot to user experience. Pen has a dark color and comes with a convenient rubber case. Once connected via Bluetooth, a floating menu appears on either side of screen and pen hovers to select features. You can quickly take notes, grab screenshots, or even use the pen to translate text or crop images. One button on pen works as a remote control for taking photos and both buttons offer shortcuts for quicker access to features. Pen is pressure-sensitive and works without any noticeable delay, making it great for drawing or writing.
Foldable also supports multitasking with split-screen mode and multi-window features. TECNO claims that top 1000 apps are supported for split-screen use and adjusting ratio between 16:9 and 4:3 is easy. The dock bar at the bottom and quick access window make switching between tasks seamless
TECNO Phantom V Fold 2 AI Features
TECNO has integrated several AI-powered tools into phone. AI eraser and AI photo editing features are useful for image enhancements. AI can also translate phone calls in real-time, summarize conversations and more. One standout feature is Universal Tone, which captures diverse skin tones accurately, making it especially valuable in multicultural settings. These AI features add another layer of convenience and creativity to user experience, boosting both productivity and enjoyment.
TECNO Phantom V Fold 2 Cameras
TECNO Phantom V Fold 2 has three cameras: a main camera, an ultra-wide camera and a 2x telephoto lens. Ultra-wide camera is upgraded to 50MP, delivering colorful and detailed photos with strong HDR. All three cameras perform well in good light, without over-sharpening.
For night photography, Super Night Mode is impressive. In Auto mode, night shots look brighter, but Super Night Mode keeps natural dark tones, making photos feel more true to life. However, 2x telephoto lens doesn’t have image stabilization, so photos in low light might be blurry, but it’s not a major issue for most users.
TECNO Phantom V Fold 2 Performance
Powered by Dimensity 9000+ 5G chip with 12GB RAM and 512GB storage, Phantom V Fold 2 handles everyday tasks smoothly. It also performs well in demanding games like Genshin Impact, though it gets slightly warm.
Phone’s 5750mAh battery supports 70W fast charging and it charges fully in about 40 minutes, which is fast and handy for busy users.
