Xiaomi Pad 7 Design
Xiaomi Pad 7 looks similar to the Pad 6 but has a slightly different shape due to its new 3:2 aspect ratio.
The front is mostly glass, with a 7mm bezel around the display and rounded corners. The 8MP ultra-wide front camera sits within the bezel. On the right edge, you’ll find the volume buttons and a spot for attaching the stylus, which snaps on magnetically and charges wirelessly.
The tablet has four speakers, two on each side, which automatically adjust to deliver stereo sound no matter how you hold it. The speakers are loud and support Dolby Atmos for better audio. However, there is no fingerprint scanner, so you’ll rely on face unlock, which doesn’t work with apps like password managers or payment apps.
There’s also no headphone jack, which means you’ll need wireless earbuds. On the back, the camera module sticks out more than necessary, even though it only has one camera, which isn’t very impressive.
Xiaomi Pad 7 feels solid, with a sturdy build, and no antenna lines, thanks to the lack of cellular connectivity.
Xiaomi Pad 7 Display, accessories and charging
Xiaomi Pad 7 has an 11.2-inch IPS LCD screen with a 3200×2136 resolution. It offers a maximum refresh rate of 144Hz, 600 nits brightness, and 800 nits peak brightness. The display also has a 360Hz touch sampling rate and 240Hz for the stylus. It supports HDR10, HDR10+, and Dolby Vision.
The display is glossy by default, but a nano-textured version is available for an extra cost, which reduces reflections and makes it feel more like paper, ideal for stylus use. The screen’s 3:2 aspect ratio is an improvement for landscape use, especially with a keyboard attached.
While the screen has good color accuracy and brightness for outdoor use, claimed 144Hz refresh rate is not fully realized. It reaches a maximum of 120Hz in all apps. The refresh rate also fluctuates in some apps, dropping to 60Hz when using the stylus.
The HDR performance isn’t impressive since it’s an LCD, and true HDR is better on OLED screens.
Accessories
- Pad 7 Cover: A magnetic cover that protects the device and doubles as a kickstand for both portrait and landscape modes. Priced at INR 1,499.
- Focus Pen: A stylus with 8192 pressure sensitivity levels and 3ms latency. It works well but requires the nano-textured display for better drawing. Priced at INR 5,999.
- Focus Keyboard: A keyboard with a floating hinge design, backlit keys and a small trackpad. It’s ideal for typing and working. Priced at INR 8,999.
Charging
Xiaomi Pad 7 has an 8850mAh battery and supports 45W fast charging. It takes about 98 minutes to fully charge with the supplied charger.
Xiaomi Pad 7 Software and performance
Xiaomi Pad 7 runs on HyperOS 2, which is based on Android 15. This means you get two major Android updates without having to wait for the basics to be fixed.
HyperOS 2 offers a clean and functional experience. You can multitask with split-screen views or open up to four apps at once using floating windows. The Workstation mode creates a desktop-like experience with multiple floating windows.
There is minimal bloatware and ads, making it feel more professional than other Xiaomi devices.
Xiaomi Pad 7 is powered by Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 chip with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. It performs well, even with multiple apps open but it starts to slow down with too many Chrome tabs. It would have been better with 16GB of RAM especially for productivity tasks.
Gaming performance is decent, but most games run at 60Hz, even though the screen can support 144Hz.
In benchmarks:
- GeekBench 6 scores: 5126 (Multi-core)
- AnTuTu score: 1,446,677
- 3DMark Wild Life Extreme: 3031
The device handles heat well, maintaining good performance during extended use.
Xiaomi Pad 7 Camera
Xiaomi Pad 7 has a 13MP rear camera with an f/2.2 aperture, capable of recording 4K video at 30fps. The front camera is 8MP with a wide field of view.
The rear camera delivers decent photos with good color and detail, though it’s not ideal for professional use. However, it’s good enough for quick snapshots when needed.
The 4K video quality is also surprisingly good and usable.
