Xiaomi Poco X6 Pro Design, build quality and handling

Poco X6 Pro has a sharp-edged design with a large camera module on the back. It has a plastic frame and back, with Gorilla Glass 5 protecting the display.

It comes in black, yellow, and gray. The black version is glossy and picks up fingerprints easily, while the yellow one has a leather-like texture for better grip.

The phone has an IP54 rating, making it resistant to dust and splashes, but not fully waterproof. The 6.67-inch OLED screen has thin bezels and a centered punch-hole selfie camera.

The power button and volume rocker are on the right. The IR emitter and top speaker are at the top. The bottom has a USB-C port, loudspeaker, microphone, and SIM slot.

It includes an in-display fingerprint scanner, which works well but is placed a bit low. The phone measures 160.5×73.4×8.25mm and weighs 186g. The vegan leather version is slightly thicker and heavier. Itโ€™s comfortable to hold, though the glossy back can be slippery.

Xiaomi Poco X6 Pro Display, battery life, charging speed, speaker

Poco X6 Pro has a 6.67-inch OLED display with a sharp 1,220 x 2,712 resolution. It supports Dolby Vision and can reach 1,800 nits of brightness. The 120Hz refresh rate makes scrolling smooth, and the 2,160Hz touch sampling rate improves responsiveness.

In tests, the X6 Pro reached 1,148 nits in adaptive mode, making it bright enough for outdoor use. In manual mode, it reaches around 500 nits.

The display refreshes at 120Hz but drops to 60Hz when idle to save battery. Gaming at 120Hz is supported.

The X6 Pro supports HDR for Netflix and YouTube. It also has Ultra HDR for photos, but users need to enable Pro HDR in settings.

The 5,000mAh battery lasts around 11 hours and 46 minutes. The regular X6 model has a slightly bigger 5,100mAh battery, but the X6 Pro still performs well.

The phone supports 67W fast charging, reaching 100% in 43 minutes. Wireless charging is not available.

The X6 Pro has stereo speakers, with a bottom speaker and an earpiece acting as the second speaker. The sound is loud and clear, but the bass is weaker than the X5 Pro.

Xiaomi Poco X6 Pro Software and performance

Poco X6 Pro is the first phone to launch with HyperOS, Xiaomiโ€™s new system, based on Android 14.

The interface is similar to previous Xiaomi and Poco phones, but with some changes. The Control Center no longer has text labels on icons, and the lock screen has more customization options. A new font is also introduced.

The multi-window feature is easier to use, and the Task Switcher has a two-column layout. You can now create large app folders in two sizes. The home screen has an app drawer by default, but you can switch to a single-layered layout.

Xiaomiโ€™s apps like Gallery, Music, Videos, File Manager, and Mi Remote are included. The Game Turbo feature helps with performance while gaming.

The phone runs on the Dimensity 8300-Ultra chip, with up to 12GB RAM and 512GB storage. It performs very well in benchmarks and handles heavy tasks smoothly, maintaining 80% of its peak performance under load.

Xiaomi Poco X6 Pro Camera

Poco X6 Pro has three cameras, but only two are useful. The main camera is 64MP and also handles zoom since there’s no dedicated zoom lens. Itโ€™s supported by an 8MP ultrawide camera and a basic 2MP macro camera.

The 64MP main camera has optical stabilization and captures good details, but some areas may look grainy. Colors are slightly warm, and the dynamic range is decent. The 2x zoom mode works well, keeping good detail. The 8MP ultrawide camera is just average, with limited dynamic range and slightly dull colors.

The front camera is 16MP and works well for selfies.

The camera app is easy to use, with different shooting modes and a Pro mode for manual adjustments.

In low light, the phone automatically enhances photos. The main camera takes bright and clear images with minimal noise, while the 2x zoom remains sharp. The ultrawide camera struggles in the dark, producing softer and noisier photos.

Poco X6 Pro – Pros & Cons

โœ… ProsโŒ Cons
๐Ÿ“บ Great display โ€“ sharp, bright, 120Hz, Dolby Vision๐Ÿ–๏ธ Back attracts fingerprints
โšก Fast 67W charging๐Ÿ’ฆ IP54 rating could be better
๐ŸŽ›๏ธ Smooth HyperOS software๐ŸŽฅ Weak video stabilization
๐Ÿš€ Powerful performance๐Ÿ“ท 8MP ultrawide lacks detail, no 4K
๐ŸŒ™ Good main camera, especially in low lightโŒ

Conclusion

Poco X6 Pro is fast, has a great display with Dolby Vision, and charges quickly. The Dimensity 8300 Ultra chip ensures strong performance, and battery life is solid.

The 8MP ultrawide camera lacks detail, and 4K video isn’t supported. The main camera’s stabilization could be better. The back attracts smudges, and the IP54 rating isn’t as strong as some rivals.

Still, the phone takes good low-light photos, and HyperOS feels smooth. Overall, it’s a great choice with a few minor drawbacks.
